Is there a time limit as to when this rebate will stay on your account as at the moment as a single person living in rented accommodation for the next 10 months whilst I find a house to buy...my monthly electric bills have been £42 and sometimes less.

Not sure - I'm in a similar boat, my monthly electricity usage is approx £35 including the standing charge, so this could last some time.

It is certainly welcome here after moving from 14p kWh for elec to 29.24p kWh our annual kWh usage meant we were looking at £2094 for the year and now it's £1694.
Indeed, mine will have gone from circa £1870 for the 22/23 tax year to £1470 assuming a 42% rise in October, no further rises in January23/April23 and no further economies between now and December 2022.  It is doable for this present year although my October 2022 - October 2023 predictions on my current usage would be some £2300 pa.

The UK needs energy prices to come down in absolute terms otherwise more measures will be required down the line methinks :)
  • So the £650 pounds per household, is that per household as long as one person in the household is getting UC or is that per person if more than one person is getting UC and if more than one person is getting UC and it’s per household who gets the grant?

Me too. I've just gone to £40/month DD even though I'll be in credit with that amount so £400 would almost last me a year.

I read it £650 pounds per household NOT per person.

Yes me too but what if there’s three or more in the household possibly unrelated all getting UC?

It's a big improvement on the previous proposal.  I would still like the option for the well off to refuse the £400 which could then be redistributed among the most in need perhaps at the start of next year?

From the .gov link I posted
Energy suppliers will deliver this support to households with a domestic electricity meter over six months from October.

So is that actually a £66.67 credit each month for From October to March, rather than a one off £400 credit?

The kind of people who would refuse the payment are the kind who would hopefully donate it. Some will anyway.
