Washing Away My Debts By 2024

Quick update, I’ve just cashed out £5.62 from Prolific and that’s gone straight to CC2. If I’m half decent at my estimates I think this takes me to over £100 in overpayments come the end of the period (next Thursday). Yay! Might be nearer to my goal than last time
Still have another £5.10 waiting to be approved.

So glad that the notice was accepted with grace and there’s no hard feelings. It always makes me wonder with companies that can increase the pay when someone wants to leave… why not pay them what they’re worth in the first place?
Anyway, so pleased for you! ☺️Life gets in the way...PADding is addictive...Saving's better than spending...My savings diary - Now for a healthier, wealthier me2025 1p challenge #41 | Cash envelope challenge #01 | SPC #017Sealed pot 2025 £6573 | EF £1000/£1000 | Sabbatical £3364/£6000 | Travel savings £1508 | Sinking pots £25711 -
Still waiting for my £5.10 to be approved @shell16 ... I need it before next Thursday so it can go towards my total for the period!
Many thanks @sunshine_raincloudI am still slightly in shock to be honest! I remember when I was in university and my dream was to become chartered and to earn a certain figure or over. If I reached that figure I said I would be happy to live on that for the rest of my working life. Well I am 29 and I have finally reached that salary. It's madness! Of course, I now want to reach for the stars, become qualified and earn more but knowing I have reached my initial career dream, I know I can achieve what I want if I try hard enough. The next few years is going to be a long hard slog as these exams are so tough and I am stressed out with the horse having everything wrong with her.
So I have worked out the following: At the moment I get paid every 4 weeks and earn X amount. This is enough to cover all of my initial bills (not food and diesel as this comes from my partners weekly contribution) and I am left with just short of £300 for the period. Once I start my new job I get paid monthly so I will be earning Y. After all of my bills (again not food shopping or diesel) I will be left with £806! What the hell?!?!?! Absolutely ruddy insane!!! Shed a tear typing this as it will make such a massive difference to my family. The diesel consumption will definitely increase with the daily 26 minute commute down the motorway but even incorporating the extra cost for this, after every regular bill or expense I occur each month I am still looking at having around £700 disposable income for anything be it family outings/clothes for the kids etc. So ruddy chuffed! Of course nothing ever pans out the way you plan it to so guaranteed this will become peanuts after some emergency requires me to empty my pockets once more 😂
Made my PAD today of £1 to CC2 pot. Still haven't requested for my CC2 balance to be transferred across to my new Tesc0 CC (this shall become the new CC2). I will do this over the weekend I think. Does anyone know if you need to physically use your new CC before being able to pay for something using it over the phone? Would hate to ring the vets to pay my current balance for it to be declined 🙈
Less than a week until payday and £136 in my current account. I have our weekly £40 budget L*dl food shop on Sunday, £50 of diesel and £30 worth of new grass football boots for my son to fork out for. This leaves me with less than £20. On Monday I do receive £145 child benefit which will see me through to payday eve (Thursday). I may be sensible and put some of this money into my EF as a buffer for when I don't receive full pay at the end of October due to them taking back money owed from taking too many holidays before my contract termination. Might still throw a little extra to the debt though!Debt Remaining: £8,781.53

That really is a huge difference in income, although I guess some will be down to the 12 payments rather than the current 13 (if that makes sense) well worth the first few weeks of financial tightening for when that arrives. It sounds as if the first new payslip will be about 4 weeks from leaving, so that will be so much better than immediately having a 5 week month!
Some credit cards need you to use it with the pin before you can have it for contactless, but I think it is ok to use them over the phone. Does it say anything on the paperwork about activating it? Perhaps use it for a small shop or some fuel where the pin is needed to make sure it works first?Credit card debt - NIL

Hi @SusieT, yes most definitely regarding the 12 payments instead of 13. I thought that I would prefer being paid every 4 weeks compared to every month but now I have experienced both, I would rather have the extra money and be paid more than receive one additional salary payment each year. It works out far better for planning finances too (for me anyway)
Yes that's right! I start my new position on the 24th and they all get paid the day after so I will have to wait until the 25th of November to be paid from the new company. I think I will manage! Might just have to tighten things up a little more until I am back into a regular swing.
I know can't use it for contactless payments without using the PIN first which is fine as I dont actually intend on using the card 😂 Sadly it only mentions the above and nothing about using it over the phone. Might just go and purchase something tiny on it to activate it ... at least I will then know its fully activated!

I have just transferred the full balance of my CC2 being £1614.16 across to my Tesc0 CC (will become the new CC2). It said it would take 2 days to clear so chances are it won't be done until Tuesday now. I was charged 2.29% for the transfer which was £36.96 so my CC2 new total is now £1651.12. I just have the vets bill to add to this which will bring the balance to around £3k again
Gutted but at least it will all be in one place and not spread across multiple areas.
Back from Sports-D after buying my son a new pair of grass football boots. His last ones were from Sept 2021 so now too tight. A cost that had to occur with him playing so regularly.
The plan for my pay next Friday is still to pay the Egypt holiday off so it will spare me £116 a month going forwards. Slightly more hesitant however do to this now with my changing of workplace and the uncertainty of not knowing how much I will actually be paid vs bills. Perhaps I may consider paying a smaller percentage of my portion of the holiday off instead of 100%. This would leave me with extra funds to put into my EF should I need it to bridge the gap for Novembers bills. I shall have to have a think!

If you can hold back the funds instead of paying off the holiday I think that would be sensible. At least you know your extra salary can sort that out next month

Hi @Squirrelz92 I'm subscribing to your diary, you seem to have some great ideas so I'll go back and have a read. I can't guarantee I'll read all 33 pages though! Good job on doing so well in a few short months
