I think you're doing amazingly well @Squirrelz92 and I agree that was a great summary (I shall pinch bits of your format 😂). The balance transfer fees can really sting you when you transfer really large amounts as the fees then go into the hundreds and it all needs to be paid for. But you're right, we'll all get there.

How was the surgery yesterday, was they able to do everything that they needed to fix her spine? I hope she's not suffering too much and the recovery and rehabilitation goes well. xx

  • @Squirrelz92 I love buying things for my home so I actually budget in some savings specifically for home improvements. I've got a Monzo account so have created a pot for this so the money is kept separate. I usually love getting some new cushions or throws to change up the colours at different times of the year, so this will be a great way of treating myself but also staying on track.
  • Hi @Keedie! That's very kind of you, thank you :) I have to have things looking a particular way so its easy to navigate and understand so I do love my summary format. Feel honoured knowing others would like to make use of it !

The surgery went very well. She was operated on for 3 hours and had 8 bone shaves. Because another set of X-rays confirmed just how severe it was before going under the knife, they decided to try and get a little extra bone deeper in than normal to give her the best chance. This means her rehab time will increase by another month but I don't mind. She unfortunately colicked during the night so she required meds and a rectal exam to help release the gas build up. This sadly meant she couldn't have her post operation X-rays done on Thursday as they require sedation. They let her get comfy for the day and rescheduled for her to be sedated today for them so fingers crossed all looks good! They also want to keep her in for a further night again in case she colicks because of the sedation like last time. Bless her soul! The plan is for her to be transported back to her stables early tomorrow morning so I am looking forward to seeing her.

It doesn't help that I am god awful with being creative or designing things @no1disneymum, as I love the idea of different colour themes for different times of the year but I am pants with what would look good against what would look plain stupid! Wouldn't mind a stag head though :D

  • Ok, so today was pay day! This payday acts for me as a bonus because we are paid 4 weekly giving us 13 payments across the year. With me still having all my bill money in my pots from being paid on the 2nd September ready to come out tomorrow, I have collected the funds not needed for bills for this upcoming month giving me a total of £896.76.

I did have a plan for this money; to pay of the remaining balance of my holiday (£768) leaving me with an extra £116 a period to put elsewhere with it no longer being needed to put to a side to pay off the holiday. However, this option didn't factor in the possibility of leaving one place of work and joining another. I need to make sure that I will have enough funds to cover November's bills. With me having used more holidays that I am now not entitled to have taken because I have handed in my notice, this will be taken back in my last salary on the 28th. God only knows how many hundreds this will reduce my pay-packet by but I feel as though I need to make a decent buffer to cover me just in case. My adjusted plan is to now make up my EF to £1000 and then throw the rest at my holiday. I currently have £568 in my EF so I will transfer £432 into this pot and the remaining will go to my holiday leaving me with a balance of £304 left to pay by March.

Made a PAD of £1 to the CC1 pot :)

That's great that the surgery was a success, although it's a shame she got colic. And I'm off to pinch bits of your summary style and do my September 2022 update xx

  • Afternoon folks :)

£1 PAD to CC1 pot this morning before heading out to spend a few quid on horse feed and the last few bits for my partners 30th. We are well matched in the fact that we don't drink, we don't enjoy massive parties, crowds of people or being made a massive fuss of so the pressure is off to create the 'classic' 30th birthday bash. I saved up for his main present over the last month or so which is a 300ft bungee jump! He will be able to book it when he wants as he is very busy each weekend with work and such which will suit him better :) Grabbed him a few other bits from Asda alongside the normal cards, balloons, banner and birthday cake. His birthday is on Tuesday which sucks so we will celebrate it tomorrow.

Arwen was transported back to me this morning after her stay at the equine hospital since Wednesday for her surgery. He seemed to be in high spirits (sheer amount of drugs she is on may play a part to this...) and settled back in nice and quietly. I have been given discharge instructions, a plastic bag full of three lots of different drugs she needs to have twice a day for the next few weeks and a lot of bandage changing equipment. The vet has said she will come to the yard and do the first few bandage changes as she got rather angry when they vets tried to take off the first one which is no surprise as it must be soo sore :( All the horses are in for the winter now which will help keep her calm as I wasn't sure as to whether they would all still be out during the day leaving her alone :(

  • I'm so glad Arwen is doing ok, that must have been a huge worry! Seems you're doing really well. And your planning is very sensible. I'm hoping you'll be a good influence on me :D

You are doing reallly well to be paying down the debt and managing to save for a really thoughtful present, I am sure that will be a great time out :D
Great that Arwen is home, well timed with the others being in as that will help her stay more settled. Hope the bandage changes get easier and her rehab goes well. They sound to have done a good job with her :D

Morning @cybertortoise :) Thank you, it really was a worry! Full on panicked when they rang me at work letting me know she had taken ill that night :( Luckily she was in the best hands. I'm still finding my way through this debt but I definitely feel as though the methods I'm using are working well and have no plans as of yet to change them :)

Thank you so much @SusieT. We are all looking forward to taking a trip out to watch him bungee! Hoping the bandages do get easier to change as the wound heals as it makes me sad knowing she is in pain whilst we are trying to help aid her recovery. All these meds I am having to give her twice a day is crazy!

PAD today of £1.08 to the CC1 pot just to put my current account to a nice round number. Plans for today consist of L!dl, topping up on diesel and heading back to the horse shop to purchase food I forgot about plus the dog's monthly supply. Heading out for a lovely early birthday tea to a local Italian restaurant this evening. Must get some studying in today at some point as I am lagging. Probably doesnt help that I don't have 100% motivation due to my new employer not paying for my December exam with it being in my probationary period so I shall have to fork out £150 for it myself. Not sure if I will have the funds for that to be honest with bills being priority :( We shall see, but I will continue, nonetheless.
