Sorry I'm so late to the party, I've been reading along but not had time to write you a message. I'm very proud of you for persevering and going for it and what a whopper of a pay rise! It will definitely come in handy for reducing stress, debt and living life to the full.

I'm glad that your mum was able to save the day and you can concentrate on settling into your new role without worrying about childcare.

With your first pay, just ask them when the payroll cut off is and what the payday is. As my job pays on 24th of the month, my previous job paid on the 15th of the month. It really just depends. Some companies also do a supplementary payroll for new starters that miss the payroll deadline. So once you know, you can move things around if you need to.

I'm so excited for you! Well deserved and totally inspiring. Congratulations again 🎉🎉🎉

    Morning,

Everyone is so kind congratulating me, its very much appreciated! An extra £400 a month after tax etc is massive for me so I already cannot to receive my first pay in November and distribute to my pots accordingly

@Keedie, very fortunate that my Mum generously offered to step in to help transition and settle as smoothly as possible! The plan is for us all to travel down south on the Sunday for the day to catch up, have a roast and then I will head back home late afternoon by myself. The following Friday straight after work we will meet half way so I can collect the minions back up :)

I received my official offer letter and contract through email yesterday afternoon. Why do  all contracts have to be phrased in such a way that you always feel doomed?! I know that's not the case as they were all such lovely, friendly, welcoming people at my interviews but it still makes you gulp a tad reading it! Anyway, thankfully it had info on remuneration and staff are paid on the 25th of each month. That works out beautifully really as I will be paid for my final 4 weeks here on the 28th Oct which will hopefully leave me enough to cover November's bills and then I will be paid the 25th November in time for Decembers. Yay! it is all paid in arrears but this isn't an issue as I do have enough in my emergency fund and hopefully my last pay packet to cover the bills.

I wrote my resignation letter last night and I am so nervous about pulling my manager to a side and giving it to him. Have even gone as far as watching a few vids online regarding the best way to do it. I have put it into an envelope which I will give to him whilst I tell him what it is and why I have chosen to leave. I feel so bad as he is lovely and is always trying to recruit multiple replacements for the purchase ledger team :( As a video rightly mentioned though, at the end of it all it's simply business. It's part of working. We all want to do what is best for our own career progressions and for our family.

I have transferred £1.59 into the CC2 pot and still waiting for my pending amounts owed to be cleared on prolific (almost £10).

That sounds like a great plan for the half term Squirrelz and it will give you time to catch up with yourself and get your head around starting a new job. I love the meeting half way, that makes so much sense, especially straight after work and I'm sure the minions will have a great time with your mum.

All contracts are scary, so you're not alone in thinking that. But I am glad that it had the payday information and that it works neatly with how you manage your bills currently. That emergency fund is great isn't it? It has saved me so many times, but needs to be built back up now.

Best of luck with handing in your notice, and try not to worry, although he may sad to lose you and have to recruit, you're right in that it is business and you need to do what's best for you and your family. That £400 will be life changing.

I agree with @Keedie, It will be truly uncomfortable handing in your notice but Im sure they will fully understand your reasons.  Good luck today xx

  • @Squirrelz92 How did I miss the post saying you got the job?? Silly me.

Congratulations, so exciting!! I bet you can't wait to get stuck in.

  • Meeting halfway definitely suits both me and my Mum, especially when its on a Friday evening and traffic is less than ideal. I shall no doubt be very thankful for my EF @Keedie as my manager confirmed that any holidays I have taken which would take me over my annual allowance up to my leaving date will be deducted from my final pay...this may be a fair whack!

I handed in my notice earlier this morning and thankfully after giving my reasons as to why, he was incredibly nice about it all. He complimented me on my efficiency/work ethic/standards etc and said I will be an asset to my new company. He did say that if it wasn't for the fact that I was so set on leaving, he would have happily had a discussion regarding increasing my salary potentially to they have offered me. That hurt a bit as I did for a little bit doubt my choice, but then of course I have to remember why I have chosen to leave; the workload. Matching the salary wouldn't bring me more work. I need excessive amounts of work to be able to thrive best in the workplace. Fingers crossed they manage to find my replacement before I finish in 4 weeks time so I can aid the transition.

Yes I think you might have done @no1disneymum but thats alright! Its buried in some lengthy post perhaps on the last page! Very much excited to learn their ways and crack straight on with it all! x
