You pay 41.41p/day SC
Day Unit Rate 33.46/kWh
Night Unit Rate 22.4/kWh
Rate 3 (no usage but would be 21.87/kWh)Thanks for all the extra information.The tariff details quoted above are similar to those posted by other forum users with three-rate tariffs, and the day/night/SC rates are also similar to the rates offered on conventional Economy 7.For example EDF's E7 SVR tariff for Southern region (which I think includes Wiltshire) is 43.39p SC, 33.2p day, 17.93p night. The only difference worth noting is the cheaper night rate, which you make relatively little use of.Going by your readings, over approx. 26 months you've used:- 25783kWh of "day" electricity;
- 12200kWh of "night" (and no "stored").
That's a total of 37983kWh, roughly 18000kWh/yr. That's a large amount but not huge; the average gas-heated house uses around 15000kWh/yr of gas & electricity combined. However 4/5ths of that would be gas at 7.5p/kWh while all yours is electricity and most of it is day rateN. Hampshire, he/him. Octopus Intelligent Go elec & Tracker gas / Vodafone BB / iD mobile. So - you might not be on the best tariff for your use, but the standard one rate would not be hugely different and you do seem to be using what you are being charged for.As others have mentioned, I fear you may be using your heating inefficiently. Having only a couple of radiators on, with individual thermostats, may mean those radiators are running for a lot of the time as there is cold house around them- do you get the impression they do reach temperature and cut out a lot over the winter?say 2 x 2kW heaters - 4kw, or 96kWh a day running full time, 2880 kWh a month - it adds up. Turn them off for 8 hours overnight and it would cut 1/3... Turn them off/right down when you are out working and another third off...water - how often do you go for hot water and discover you have run out? If you never run out are you overheating? (you do want to heat the tank to kill legionella, I think once a week - can't remember the recommended minimum schedule.)But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.

Hi All,
Sorry for the delayed message back. Had a hectic few days, with not much time at home. Thank you to all that have responded so far. My readings taken today are as follows:
1 Day: 47264
2 Night: 21629
3 Stored: 67818 As previously discussed, never has changed.
If the bills are made using estimated readings and SSE have put figures into the Stored reading, and charged, would I likely be due refunds? Would this drastically change things?
So far again, appreciate everyone's input!0 -
AFoster90 said:QrizB said:OP is probably in Scotland or one of the other areas where three-rate metering is/was common in all-electric houses. A conventional day & night system, plus a third rate (usually, but not always, at a lower rate) specifically for stored heat.
I am in Wiltshire, presume it is due to being an old system in the house?AFoster90 said:In April '21, My readings were as follows:

Night: 15095
Stored: 67818
In April '22: (All estimated)

Does this support? All stored readings since we have lived here (2.5 years) have always read 67818, as we do not have storage heaters etc. Please give us the current actual readings for Day and Night, and maybe we can help you work this out.

Yes, they will have to credit you the units that they have estimated for "stored", which are 2839 units.
Unfortunately for you they have underestimated your real use for day and night at the same time by 1637 and 637 units, leaving only 603 units charged to much. If you take into account that storage should be the cheapest rate, there will be no credit from this, maybe even a few £ more on the invoice.
Since the last reading you posted for 10/04/2022 you have used 1637KWh at day rate of 33.46p and 599KWh at night rate of 22.4p, a total of £681.92 plus £21.11 standing charges. That is an average of £13.78 per day or £413.55 for a 30 day month by your own readings,
You are using more than £400 electricity during spring, the £465 will hardly be enough to generate enough credit for the next winter even at current cap rates, and not even make dent into the debt you currently have.
You urgently need to figure out for what you are this high amount in electricity.
Edit
I did not see the your readings for the 25the @markin just quoted. Did you change anything in your energy use? That are worlds compared to what you used before?
The overall average since 10/4/22 was 23.8KWh per day and now less than 10KWh

As its dropped in half i think its safe to say it was that last remaining heater.

Hi Guys,
Thanks again. All I did was turn off a couple of heaters from standby to off (at the plug) Surely this would not make much difference as they were on standby, not even coming on and off as I have previously stated?
Thanks for clearing up my concern about the Stored usage. I guess they have corrected this after looking at it your way. Looks like most likely bad news, unless someone can advise something else? Still don't know how i will be able to afford £465 a month, hopefully it will be significantly less.....and ill just have to work out how to clear the debt.0 -
It can't use 12kw on standby, it must have been on, google the manual so you understand how they work.
