You need to switch to single rate straight away.  With most companies (except Bulb) it shouldn't need a meter change.  If they won't play ball, try EDF or Octopus who will take you on at the capped SVT, but only if you phone them.
Switching suppliers may well be difficult/impossible due an outstanding debt?

Agreed, with luck the OP isn't with an awkward supplier such as Bulb who would mess things up if they can't do a meter change at the drop of a hat and if the OP can't find £6k at the drop of another hat !

You still haven't said how many kWh you have consumed in the last year and what are your current tariff rates.

Sorry, haven't had time to have a look at the figures, been cooking dinner etc.... Will get this over ASAP.
In April '21, My readings were as follows:
    Day: 34581
    Night: 15095
    Stored: 67818

    In April '22: (All estimated)
    Day: 44878
    Night: 20565
    Stored: 70657

Does this support? All stored readings since we have lived here (2.5 years) have always read 67818, as we do not have storage heaters etc.
Can you read your meters please ?  Some of the modern meters can be very difficult to read - look out for the decimal point.

Were the April 21 also estimated ?

When I've previously had night storage heaters I've just hand day and night meter values (with the night values covering the storage heater use). I'm a bit confused by the third 'storage' category but maybe this is common and I've just not seen it.
OP is probably in Scotland or one of the other areas where three-rate metering is/was common in all-electric houses. A conventional day & night system, plus a third rate (usually, but not always, at a lower rate) specifically for stored heat.

The stored meter won't have anything attached, since you have no storage heaters. This is why it doesn't count up at all.
Please give us the current actual readings for Day and Night, and maybe we can help you work this out.

    Good afternoon All,
This is my first post, and hopefully my last. I am looking for some advice regarding electricity and SSE. I recently had a disagreement with SSE regarding my statement. They have put me more than £6000 in debit. They have slowly been bumping my bills up, to which I always asked them to revert. I contacted the Ombudsman, and they have to come a decision that SSE are correct to charge me. I have to accept this, however, this is the fun bit. The ombudsman have stated that going by my meter readings, my MONTHLY bill will be around £465. The national average is a third of this I believe after a little bit of research!

I live in a 3 bedroom, terraced house. There is no gas, only an electricity supply. The windows are new, the doors are new, and we have carpets throughout. There are 2 adults living in the house, but we work 0700-1700 Monday to Friday, so little usage during the day.

Has anyone else had this experience? Does anyone have any advice? I have declined the Ombudsman's decision, but this has closed the case. I need to act fairly quickly, so any support would be well received. Do I take this to a small claims court?

    Any support, and comments welcomed.

    TIA
    Adam
I do not wish to add to your concerns but by rejecting the EO’s Final Decision you have played into the supplier’s hands. If you go to Court, the supplier is entitled to use the EO’s Final Decision in support of its defence. As you failed to persuade the EO of the validity of your complaint, what new evidence, if any, would you bring to a Small Claims Court? You cannot use the argument of two people etc. You would have to show a clear evidence trail that you have been overcharged and by how much.

What do you mean by 'the heating is on when required'? Do you mean you switch the heaters on when you come home from work and off again once the room is warm enough,  or are they on constantly 24/7 whenever the temperature in the room is below 18C?
     Does this make sense?
Not really. It means you're spending money to heat a house when you're not in it which seems a complete waste of money.

What you need to do is take regular meter readings not £ amounts so you can see what you are actually using. Yearly readings aren't much use and nor are estimates. You need to get the actual readings from the meter at least monthly if not more often.
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

Presumably the EO had actual meter read data to go on rather than just the estimates posted here, but if not then this could be relevant new evidence. Although not necessarily in the OP's favour!

What age is the house, Has it got Cavity walls?  Is the loft topped up to 270mm of insulation?

Estimated so a bit pointless, a guess at single rate of 21p.

    Night: 5470  £1148

House is 50's, walls are insulated (filled) and yes we have loft insulation. The EO did have usage that wasn't estimated as someone else has asked.  I will post a fresh comment with the numbers the EO went by.
