Hi All, I appreciate all of the comments that have come through. Did not expect so many!! Been working all day with no access to come back to this. Below, are the numbers that the EO quoted from my bills that were supplied to them by SSE. Columns read as Date reading taken/supplied, Day, Night, Stored, daily average then finally the Day/Night split.

Does this look accurate enough to people? The daily average of 106.37 was a bit confusing and I do not understand why this has happened, but EO state that this is just an anomaly, and my daily average after all of these readings are 47.94.

Daily Standing charge of 41.4p, 33.46 Day and 22.4 Night and 21.8 per kWh. This is all after price hikes. Are people seeing similar to this? Should I be challenging anything? Have I royally screwed up?

The EO state that this all adds up to around £465 per month going by my usage, but as I have said before, the only thing running throughout the day is some heating, not all rooms. Obviously the usuals too (fridge/TV left on standby etc)

Happy ot have further discussions, and any advice is very very much appreciated. Further steps if any too!

Is the date of the first reading meant to be 07/02/2020?

OP is probably in Scotland or one of the other areas where three-rate metering is/was common in all-electric houses. A conventional day & night system, plus a third rate (usually, but not always, at a lower rate) specifically for stored heat.

I am in Wiltshire, presume it is due to being an old system in the house?

In April '21, My readings were as follows:
    Day: 34581
    Night: 15095
    Stored: 67818

    In April '22: (All estimated)
    Day: 44878
    Night: 20565
    Stored: 70657

Does this support? All stored readings since we have lived here (2.5 years) have always read 67818, as we do not have storage heaters etc.
The stored meter won't have anything attached, since you have no storage heaters. This is why it doesn't count up at all.
Please give us the current actual readings for Day and Night, and maybe we can help you work this out.
    Current reading as of now:

    Day: 47234
    Night: 21603
    Stored: 67818 (as always)

As I said in my previous post, really appreciate the support. Sorry it has taken so long to reply.

You are correct, no idea why it is displayed as that?
  • I am confused by this line.

Daily Standing charge of 41.4p, 33.46 Day and 22.4 Night and 21.8 per kWh.

Posted below is the line of text from the EO decision email. Maybe this is more clear?

n addition, since the price increases, your tariff prices are now 33.46p per day (day) / 22.41p per day (night) / 21.87p per kWh (rate 3) and daily standing charges of 41.41p per day, so you would need to pay around £465 per month including VAT.

Averaging over the whole period, I make that 32.5 kWh of day energy and 15.5 kWh of night energy per day. How/when do you heat hot water?

It would be informative if you could check again at the same time tomorrow, as a way to sanity check that the meter isn't obviously doing anything that looks suspicious at a time when you aren't using your heating.

Thanks, the averages the EO state are for the period between readings I presumed. Hot water heated at night only and ever!

Will do a check again tomorrow around this time, I will be home. I will repost then too. Thanks for the support so far.

    OK, I've got it now.
    You pay 41.41p/day SC
    Day Unit Rate 33.46/kWh
    Night Unit Rate 22.4/kWh
Rate 3 (no usage but would be 21.87/kWh)

    Edit In.

Over the last 34 days you have used on average just over £10/day

Using @Ultrasonic 's averages over the whole period works out at £14.75/day

That would be £442/month, not far off the EO estimate.

Is this comparable to anything you have seen before or is this completely excessive?
