The next project has begun. This is quite literally everything in my room (excluding the mattress I sleep on).
The 15 year old Billy bookcases have been dismantled and put on Olio. Once they are out of the way I will start deep cleaning. And removing the masking tape that has been on the ceiling for over a decade ahem. Tentatively set a budget of €100 to set up my room the way I want it. This is a figure plucked entirely out of thin air. Actually might have to reconsider that as I've just realized the curtains and weighted blanket will need washing. Ideally I would get something softer to sleep on as this mattress is like a brick.

Softening my re-entry to normal life with a takeaway. Trying to keep that holiday feeling going for a bit longer.

  • Best of luck with re entry and re designing your room

  • Lots of frogs tackled - fantastic.... Plenty more to be done here if you ever run out...

I went to an NT place today - and they had this beautiful, designer state bed in an air controlled glass sealed room. In vindication of hoarders everywhere - it was in the best condition ever - because although it was hundreds of years old it had never been used... It literally was the highlight of the tour... that and the spooky tunnels under the house...

I think this house might be hoarding frogs 🤣🤣🤣

It's funny you say that one of the books I read by the daughter of a hoarder said something similar about museums. Apparently the V and A is full of stuff behind the scenes.

If nobody ever used the bed I don't really get why they kept it. Surely the point has to be more than just aesthetic

Woke up to cement legs after pushing Dad up a 45 degree angle hill. Thought I wouldn't get much done today but have just walked to the shop for the paper ok.
My bedroom is now back to hoarder style having removed all the storage. I thought I'd be able to get rid of more stuff but even with my new Kill Your Darlings attitude I can't quite do a brutal cut.
    Next on the agenda-

Clean the footbath to do dad's feet
Sort bedroom stuff into accessible versus storage
Make a list of pantry items
    Sort out working tomorrow
Find some kind of electrical monitor/information about appliance running costs
    Start notion work
    Find list of budget items
    Finish delivery app

The washing machine has gone up to a tenner so I think my weighted blanket has just magically become clean again.

    Stunning photo and place.

I have to let things go in layers. Perhaps pick a drawers's worth of stuff to go through and try and let go.

I think another MFW is doing 1 item a day and then by the end of the month you are at 28-31 things a day...

Even if you just let one more thing go a day than you bring in - it will improve over time. Our bad habits didn't arise overnight. We're unlikely to shed them overnight either...

I am decluttering in layers. I get to a certain point and stop and can't get past it - but then I can come back to it another day / week / month. I see it as a long game.

  • Thanks DIA and SH. It is a very peaceful place to go for a walk, steep hills notwithstanding.

Yesterday's to do list did not happen 🤷
Spent the day sorting and cleaning in my room. Washed a bit of wall and skirting.
Decided not to bother buying much for my room yet, seeing as I can't decide on anything. I did buy hooks at a cost of £9. Have brought the garden chair up and covered it. Stole a small bookcase from dad's old room. Now to decide where everything goes.

SH, my bags for charity are getting smaller! Currently I only have one layer in my room (this is the small room in my parent's house) The Covers The Floor Layer. I look more like a hoarder than ever funnily enough.
