2.50 for not getting drenched for the day is money well spent.
I completely understand your feeling but I really think they more likely saw a chance to get out the door without too much stress and the promise of an easy breakfast!
Well done on your library discovery and of course your unexpected exercise 😁1 -
At least you picked up the text in time.
I wonder if the family didn't want to put too many demands on you? Mind you, if they aren't good at planning it may be that they just went spontaneously.
I like the BJ method though I go through phases of using it and months in between when I forget all about it. It's a useful way of keeping lists accessible, even if I don't utilise it like a pro.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

The last few days have been hectic. Not in terms of volume but due to lack of sleep. I gave in to the most reasonable but annoying assumption that the duvet is too hot now that it's no longer in the minuses. Stupid lack of weather consistency.
On the bright side, I have been too tired to care so much about 'the right thing to do' so have been out and about a bit more. Translated that means I've been to the library multiple times.
Went out for lunch with Sister, Teacup and Very Small One. Grateful for VSO as he got me out of eating lunch in TGI Friday. The music was unbelievably loud even after I asked if they could turn it down and he was Not Happy.
Money is evaporating from my bank account thanks to a combination of Christmas presents, travel and fatigue.3 -
Too-loud music is a problem, I agree. Greetings card shops and charity shops are the worst offenders.
I hope you can catch upon some sleep.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

In a twist I wasn't expecting, the universal credit assessment decision is limited capability for work. I am quite shocked. It makes sense in some ways, my experience of working has always been a struggle. The assessment highlighted some areas that I was perceiving as normal but are signs of mental distress.
I have asked the work coach what this means in terms of the job I have been offered.
And it means more paperwork for the disability payment appeal so that's good.3 -
That's quite encouraging - I think it's easy to assume things are normal because we've always had them, but the fact it's always been like this is an indication it's part of what you have to deal with in a neurotypical world.
If your new job is relief, you can choose whether to accept any shifts you're offered but you could also ask for reasonable adjustments - maybe shorter shifts or not morning/late, or not in a noisy area like a dining room.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Gd news re the assessment and hopefully it gives you some breathing space to regroupDON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

As is the way of things chez moi, the arrival of more information has meant more confusion. I contacted my gp to be told what I expected, there is no support for asd diagnosis unless it is for a specific issue.
So now I am thinking that I put together my own plan. Which I think I can do, as long as I don't try to do it all at once.

I found the DoItProfiler came up with loads of suggestions for me but as I think I mentioned, it's normally a paid facility. To be honest, a lot of it was stuff I've gleaned over the years anyway and some was just common sense - probably most useful to someone of late teens needing to start on the job ladder. You will already have ideas what works and doesn't work for you. For instance, if you find early starts are a problem, a reasonable adaptation might to work later shifts.
My suggestion would be to find out as much as you can about what reasonable adaptations could involve, and add your own.
Also - and this may be peculiar to me - I found I need to give new things time to settle as there's a 'shock' effect, big or small, and once that's passed, the rest of me can process better.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
