I agree! I hate weird questions like that as it forces me to have to write the answers down or I'll never remember them.Sea_Shell said:They have some very odd security questions!!!!
I didn't even have an answer for two of them, so not only did I have write them down (in code😉), I had to first make them up!!
They really should be fact based...not "favourite" type questions IMO.
But there again extended family might be able to hack me with "eldest cousin" etc. 😉
Usually you get to choose from a selection of questions. How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0 -
Yes the favourite questions are always dumb. When I was 5 I probably had ideas of favourites of lots of things but not as an adult!Sea_Shell said:

I just pick random answers and store them in my password management app. The answers don't need to be memorable or factual then 😊1

Contrary to previous posts I believe security questions should never be answered correctly, giving false answers helps prevent someone trying to impersonate you.
Yes you may have to write the answers down but this in itself is not insecure, there are many places to write these down where no one would ever think of looking.2 -
I'd say the original idea of this sort of back-up question was in case someone forgot their password. As such I personally think they should be things that the individual will know without needing to make a record but would still not be obvious to others. I say this as someone losing where they noted their password is very likely to lose the answers to additional questions as well - and I'm including myself in this!kaMelo said:Contrary to previous posts I believe security questions should never be answered correctly, giving false answers helps prevent someone trying to impersonate you.

About the deposits, up to the point the product is withdrawn...
From the KeyFacts document Please note that the Bank reserves the right to withdraw this product at any time. If the product is withdrawn from sale you will be able to put more money into your account for a further seven working days. Please note that if we withdraw this product you will not be notified in writing.
So you have to either keep checking, or hope someone puts it here if they're the first ones to notice! Better bookmark the thread then
Ooh, and my £1 has arrived. Will do the big transfer on Wednesday, after i've done a money shuffle

Mentioned on Q.I. tv show a while ago that the last thing the burglars are looking for are tatty notebooks or diarys when they re rummaging through your goods. They re looking for easy to transport valuable s not passwords.kaMelo said:Contrary to previous posts I believe security questions should never be answered correctly, giving false answers helps prevent someone trying to impersonate you.

Just make sure you send the payment before 3:30 pm, otherwise it won't be credited into your account until the next working day which will be next Monday because of the extra holidays and your money will be stuck somewhere in the ether for 4 days!Sea_Shell said:About the deposits, up to the point the product is withdrawn...

Good point thanks. I was planning on doing it first thing...but might get it sorted sooner, just in case events overtake me.Expotter said:

How long did it take to hear from them once you applied? I applied yesterday and haven’t even received an email acknowledging my application. I read that some people are sending £1 test payments but my application stated a £1000 min deposit?0
