I think the problem can be that someone who does not feel anxious does not even have the faintest understanding of what anxiety is.  It isn't that they don't want to help or don't care but just that they just don't have a clue what it is & the effect it can have.

Whose name is on the registration documents for the car?  Does the road tax due request come to you?

His name on the registration document is NOT proof of ownership - it actually states that on the V5.  I think it would be advisable for you to get some advice from somewhere like Citizens Advice on what to do about this situation.  You've been paying the instalments since you left him so you should be able to keep the car - if he does try to take it then he owes you the money for it and would be worth suing him in the Small Claims Court for that amount back.

So please get some advice sooner rather than later - it's hard actually getting appointments with Citizens Advice so best you contact them now and don't leave it until February when the car's paid off.

Don't leave your money in Vinted. What if it went bust? Open a savings account somewhere just for that money and stash it away. Better that you earn interest on it?
  • If you have a few minutes, then open a zopa account on your phone, they use your bank account to verify you so it's very quick to set up - I really recommend doing it - you can set an easy access, 7 day, 31 day or longer and get various rates of interest but the standard no wait account is 2.4% and interest is calculated daily and applied monthly so even a few £ gives you a visible few pennies. I have several virtual pots on there with different levels of access for my sinking pots for annual fees and have found it really easy to put money in and out.

Definitely agree with @CRANKY40 that you should open a separate savings account to put the Vinted money in.  Try and get the best interest bearing account you can.

Edited to add:  the account that @joeyjimbles has mentioned above sounds like it has a decent interest rate.

You certainly shouldn't be doing a child's homework at all never mind not getting paid for it.  How are the school supposed to know what the child knows or doesn't know!  You're right about the parents not working for free.

I've been putting the heating on a bit this week but only for short periods - the temperature in my living room is down to 16 this morning and it's just too chilly to sit around in, even with a blanket.  I'll only leave it on until it's up a couple of degrees and then it will go off again.

Hope the parent who owes you money sends it to you once the letter is received.  It's really not fair expecting you to work for nothing.  I think I would insist on payment up front in future.  Hopefully it won't end up in the Small Claims Court.

Being let down and owed money must be so disappointing Emma, and inexcusable.
What an example to set to their children.
Hopefully you have many more decent and reliable customers.

@[Deleted User] well done for speaking up.  Letting situations like this drift can end up eroding your sense of self.  Forgive me if this is too personal a question here, but do you want to continue in this relationship? I appreciate that it would be a big decision.   We are all here for you; please PM me if you'd like to love Humdinger xx
