Emma I didn't see your old diary so I don't know your history as I've only recently been back on MSE myself (had to change username as it was so long since I was on here), perhaps you could put your inheritance into your ISA so at least it's earning some interest until you decide what to do with it? is it easy access if you need it?
I'm also very impulsive, I handed my notice in on my job after hanging up on my manager in a teams meeting last September and left in Jan to go self employed, I thought I'd regret it but I don't, I'm earning a lot more now, far less stressed and managed to pay off a lot of my debt over the last few months, feeling I can sleep a bit better at night now it's lower but like you, just want it gone now so I can actually start to appreciate the money I'm earning

Ouch for DD. It's hard isn't it adjusting for everyone.

If I was you Emma I’d get my monthly gas/electricity payment reduced, as long as you can put the extra aside somewhere separately. With interest rates going up a few places are starting to offer better rates. I get well over 1% on an easy access Coventry account which should be easy to open online. You might make yourself a pound or two in interest. It all adds up.
The washing machine packing up is a proper downer, but there’s never a good time for such a thing to happen. At least you could afford to replace it, whereas back in the dark days you would have really struggled to find the money.
Hard for your daughter. I’m sure she knows you very much love her.

Good on you. I wish my parents had done that for me.

Well done for standing up for your daughter Emma.
I had similar trouble with mine so I went straight to the other girl’s parents and explained in no uncertain terms that it needed to stop. Whatever the rights and wrongs of the way we deal with these things, I for one wasn’t going to stand by and let it happen. Bullies have a tendency to back down when confronted.
I don’t know how people manage without washing machines. The cost of service washes must really add up.27/5/17 Mort 64705 BTs 1904031/12/17 Mort 59815 BT 1673007/04/20 Mort 49208 BT 1572128/07/20 Mort 47387 BT 1263414/11/20 Mort 45905 BT 10134 20/05/21 Mort 42335 BT 686811/08/22 Mort 32050 BT 2915Sealed Pot Challenge 16 Number 52 -
People give me similar advice - so I know it's easier said than done - but you can't afford to pay for DS twice. If your Ex is claiming child support form you - then that's all that he gets. Also I would have thought child support should stop within the next few weeks anyway shouldn't it if he's finished his education?
You are not greedy. You are resourceful and a woman of integrity who is trying to deal with the hand life has dealt her and rise above. You are doing well. Keep going.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Very well said @savingholmes
Whatever your OH thinks about you being greedy Emma, you KNOW the truth and that is what is important. You seem to carry quite a bit of guilt about your debts, even though the vast majority mot it was not of your making.Well done for all the hard work you continue to put in. You keep bouncing back.27/5/17 Mort 64705 BTs 1904031/12/17 Mort 59815 BT 1673007/04/20 Mort 49208 BT 1572128/07/20 Mort 47387 BT 1263414/11/20 Mort 45905 BT 10134 20/05/21 Mort 42335 BT 686811/08/22 Mort 32050 BT 2915Sealed Pot Challenge 16 Number 52 -
I've heard others get much better offers than that but it is linked to earnings/available £... It might be worth posting your question on the debt free wannabe main section rather than in diary land.
Definitely ring CSA.
Ditch the guilt and shame about debt. You've been coping with a lot - far more than you've told us. You can only move forward from here. At the end of 2016 I had £70K of debt. Now I just have the mortgage. It can be done but it's not easy.
