Should I charge my son keep?

I can't believe how irresponsible the girlfriend is being. I know it takes two to make a baby and accidents happen but the priority should be with the child they already have and ensuring that they can provide a stable upbringing which it sounds like they can only do with your help and support. There are plenty of ways and means these days to avoid unwanted pregnancy so I can only assume that the second baby was indeed planned. You are perfectly within your rights to ask for keep and I think £50 is actually very generous.4

Sit them down and make it quite clear that you are not charging them 'rent', just a fair contribution to the household expenses. If you can, show them your pre move in and post move in utility bills to show them how much more they are costing you. Plus additional food, etc.
Then, if the lass still thinks they can live elsewhere for less, show them some rental listings for 1 bed houses/flats and point out that the rent alone is more than £50 per week.2
