OK,  login to your government gateway account and navigate to MCOL and complete the AOS online on MCOL sometime next week,  no rush.   The newbies sticky thread in announcements near the top of the forum by coupon mad explains how,  in post 2

Meanwhile start drafting your defence based on the template defence thread by coupon mad,  but ideally using a Smart Parking , DCB LEGAL 11 paragraph version like the one below

  • Thank you so much! Will have a read of that pinned post now to make sure i understand it all and what my next steps are. Still can't believe they're pursuing this - surely it costs them more money - its nearly 4 years ago now.

Yours is one of hundreds of Smart Parking claims here so just copy one.

You have no idea how many times we are replying on same old Smart Parking claim threads every day. Look around.

Read a few from this afternoon.

Earlier today, I nearly self combusted with frustration at repeating the same stuff and begging two posters to just copy another one and not to ask us to check it!

Just copy a defence from any other Smart Parking claim from today, yesterday, this week, last week, last month... look down the thread titles. You'll see when you click on the Smart ones!

No need to change anything or show us. Please spare us... I am desperate to stop Smart Parking threads.

    We need a group thread.

    I need a lie down...

With an issue date of 25/11/25 and providing you complete(d) the AoS after 30/11/25 and before 14/12/25 your defence deadline date is 4.00 p.m. on 29/12/25
As advised, just search for Smart parking on the forum and copy one of the many defences you will find.
  • Thanks all and sorry for adding to the smart parking pile! I honestly didn't think to search for smart parking defence on the forum - bit silly in hindsight.

I have the defence ready, using the template and made sure that I added paragraph 4, the POFA 2012 one. I have done paragraph three but didn't add too much detail other than saying I don't recall who the driver was at the time since it was over 3.5 years ago.

    Again - sorry - please don't combust @Coupon-mad

I won't! The Group thread has come to the rescue and the full 11 paragraph defence is there, effectively. We don't need to check it but I am interested to be sure it fits on MCOL.

This is a side effect of the way the forum is constructed. For a newbie it's just overwhelming. Stickied threads are full of people unintentionally butting in. Why is the template defence 7 pages long?

Can they not make you an admin Coupon-mad? If you had full control of this place things would rapidly improve.

Yeah the forum can be a bit overwhelming especially when there is so much information to take in and to find the bit that is specific to you - especially when you want to get it right and you've had no experience of this before. In no way is this a complaint! It definitely was a bit silly of me not to just look up the smart parking defence first.

I would be lost without everyone's help, and I think its amazing that there are people out there that do this for little to no reward other than the pleasure of beating these so called companies from charging people extortionate amounts of money for a 10 minutes overstay in a bloody car park for example.

Thanks again for all the help and I will let you know @Coupon-mad if it fits in when I come to do it. I am planning to do the AoS this week.
