Maybe we should draw up some flow charts which can just point people as it seems to me (not referring to the OP) they either don't read the Newbie thread, don't understand or believe their "situation" is some what unique.
NOoooooo!! Not flow charts, too many different paths and scenarios.  The NEWBIE sticky is there and if it is followed and read more than once, it should be as good as or better than a flow chart.  We used to say that the sticky was "not a quick read, more of a cup of tea and a (plate) of biscuits type read" but then whoever said it first likes biscuits!  Unique cannot be quantified; it either is or isn't, yet we still see posters saying "my situation is slightly or somewhat unique"!
    Yea that grinds my gears!

Here's what the outline flow chart might look like, before the more complex scenarios are added! 😳

Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

    Hello,

I did start a new thread about this I apologise, but I am back to using my original thread for this problem.

So it went quiet for a quite a while, then I started getting letters with the same sort of content about having to pay a parking fine from dcbl. I ignored them, however, I have since received a letter on Friday 12th September 2025, dated the 26th August 2025 from dcbl legal, headed letter before claim, so the letter has taken nearly three weeks for me to receive it, which seems bit dodgy/unfair. The post isn't that bad!

I have just read section 2 of your newbies post and it says not to fill out the forms that they ask me to fill out? And to send an email rather than a letter.

Am I right in thinking that I can send that template letter via email, obviously with my details substituted in in response? Since I have received the letter quite late, which I will also point out to them, then I pretty much have to do this this week.

The amount they are seeking off me is £170, I think the original parking fine was £60, maybe less, I cant remember because this incident happened in February 2022.

Yes, email the info@ address and copy and paste your LoC template response and send it, no filling out forms, just one email

No point adding to it, leave it as is,  no changes

The original pcn was £100 , not £60 ( the latter was the early settlement figure,  mugs discount   )

The extra £70 would be their bonus if people were foolish to pay it, you are at the same stage as this one

I suggest that you alter the thread title to

Smart Parking,  DCB Legal, LoC  2025

To bring it up to date
  • Thanks Gr1pr, I have just updated the thread title too.

I'm in the process of copying and pasting the template and adding my details to it. Honestly you would think they would give up.

    Much appreciated.

Part of me thinks just pay it so they will go away BUT its a bloody joke so I won't! These companies are disgusting.

Fill in the current government public survey consultation and make your thoughts known,  as coupon mad stated in the thread I linked

They have 6 years to sue a person in England and Wales,  so have unloaded tens of thousands of unpaid invoices onto dcb legal before they time out,  so you are one of scores or hundreds coming here for assistance

Its business,  not personal,  so expect an N1SDT court claim pack from the CNBC in Northampton using MCOL to arrive in the post in the next few months,  we will help you through that too

You'll never pay because DCB Legal will discontinue before the hearing next year.

You just need to defend the claim when it comes. Easy! We have a template defence plus a dozen current/new Smart Parking claim threads are linked on page 14 of this thread:

    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6617396/parking-code-of-practice-consultation-now-extended-closes-friday-26th-september/p1

Please do the government's Public Consultation.

We need every poster to complete this vital survey before the deadline.

We understand that you may need some pointers. It looks laborious, we get that. It doesn't matter; no knowledge is needed except re your own experiences so you can call out a scam industry and you'll protect millions of motorists and help change the law.

I've written some guidance to help focus new posters on the issues. I've covered almost every question, providing ideas if you agree with our stance on things like DRFs, which we say must be banned.

Ordinary people like you are falling victim to this scam 15 million times per annum. Motorists need your voice added please.

    CLOSES ON FRIDAY 26th SEPTEMBER.
