Bendy - https://www.symphony-group.co.uk/range/wexford/Its painted to order, but I doubt it was handpainted.

I was looking at different samples from DIY kitchens but they just weren't green enough  / looked grey in certain lights, unless I went for a dark bottle green (paint to order took far to long a lead time). So I ended up thinking I could make up for the lack of green on the walls and asked for opinions. The hours I wasted looking for the green I wanted, I finally wandered into Buildbase and there it was in all its Atlantic Green glory.

If I hadn't found this shade, it would have been blush pink with a mid-grey quartz worktop.

I think you need to either make the f/f look built in with one side against the units or leave it freestanding, in which case I'm not sure a cupboard over will look right.
Ours is set between couple of built out larder units so they and the cupboard over are 700mm deep.  The unit over is 1000mm wide so there is 50mm either side of the fridge to accommodate the thickness of the door when opened.

I have to say that I do prefer your approach, SW, when a f-s FF is surrounded by tall units, to make these deeper to suit if you can; good move to take advantage of the design to make the units extra-deep. (I did similar along one section of units so I could hide a free-standing W/M completely inside a base unit - I hate built-in appliances!)

I don't think, tho', that the OP's FF will look confused about its status as a free-standing unit, since it won't have a tall housing beside it, and only a much shallower chimney breast to one side; it'll very obviously be what it is.

How much the unit above might affect this visually is a fair point, but the fact is the OP wants and needs this upper cupboard space, and in my personal view the best visual and practical design would be full-depth, and full width to fill the gap.

On a connected point, I wonder if the OP has any plans for that chimney breast?

Absolutely they are the norm but I'd strongly suggest its because the average person doesn't want to/can't  spend £12,000 on the brands that dont protrude rather than because the average person thinks it looks good sticking out and integrated fridge/freezers are far too small for the average family.

The "norm" is frequently a compromise, I'd argue its much better to have separate washer and drier and have them outside of the kitchen but 95% or more of homes in the south east at least will have a combined washer drier in their kitchen as we cannot afford a separate laundry room... we all know its a compromise even though its the norm.

Can the fridge doors open beyond 90 degrees though?

Would guess yes because of the gap at the side but it won't be the full 180 degree opening

This is my second American ff and I have never really needed to open the full 180 for functionality. A little over 90 deg will do. The whole kitchen will not be fitted. Ff will naturally protrude as due to said measurements.

    Not 180 deg I don’t think
