I get milk delivered direct from a local farm 3 times a week. It costs £1.25/litre or £0.68/pint.

Yes, its more expensive than from any of the shops but all the money goes to the farm, there are no middle-men / brokers / supermarkets taking their cut, the food miles are much less than milk from any other source (the farm is only 5 miles away), they sell full-fat, semi-skimmed or skimmed but probably most importantly of all - it tastes so much better than the milk from the shops.
    Is it pasteurised?
I'm surprised I appear to be the first person to ask that.

I thought it was illegal to sell unpasteurised milk, but having looked online, what you describe is legal.
I am surprised the farmer is indemnified to do so.
Yes, it is pasteurised.  They have their own pasteurising and bottling machinery on the farm.

    Paid £1.55 last Wednesday.
Wholesale prices falling due to lower demand from other milk users such as cheese manufacture etc.

Just be sure to buy the largest you can cope with!
Huge difference in price between 1 pint, 2 pints & 4 pints when comparing the litre price. my freezer is now going to be filled with small bottles of milk!
I think 1 pint was 90 pence compared with 4 pints £1.55 (or something similar)
Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

Hello all! Was just in Sainsbury’s and was absolutely ecstatic to see that the price of milk has dropped back down slightly this week, to £1.55/4pt from the £1.65 it’s been stuck at for many months now.

I’m quite a high consumer of milk so have always paid close attention to the price, and back when there was competition in the milk market would always buy from the shop with the best price on it (hence Sainsbury’s at the moment as it can be had on nectar offer practically every week).

No particular agenda with this post, just felt like I had to tell anyone who might listen.

Hopefully this is a good sign of wider cost of living improvements generally though if other groceries are following suit, perhaps the beginning of prices heading just a bit more towards the “before times”.

Checking over some old receipts, this time last year we were at £1.25/4pt, which had just gone up from £1.15 in March. Would be nice if we could see £1.40 soon but maybe that’s just wishful thinking.
    Moo…

We used to buy 2 x 4 pints of milk at the local Co-op on offer for £2, saving 18p.
I used my loyalty card for a free 4 pint bottle yesterday saving £1.75.
The Co-op charge a lot for providing a local store for people who cannot afford transport.
