TripleH said:Sorry to have hijacked this thread.I think the hardest part is not loosing her as it was inevitable at her age but that it was the first and only time I ever saw her 'ask' for help. She was a determined independent cat but to see her lying very flat on the stairs, she looked at me and all I heard was "please help me".She was happy sat on our laps but when she moved she just fell rolled over. We delayed taking her to the vets for a couple of hours and sat outside with her in the sun. She was then carried in the car to the vets by my wife. She wasn't in distress, I suspect her mind had gone by then and we knew there was no way back, it gave us all a few more moments of happiness. The others have started looking for her now. Whilst she tended to keep to herself they've noticed she's not there at wet food time or this morning when I opened the door to let them out.Sorry again it's helping to let it out.Let us know how you get on with the new cat3

Our new rescue is a lovely little chap. He's so well natured and friendly. He appears comfortable around our other cats but happy to be passive to them. Despite being small he has tufted feet, fluffy tail and makes the same noise as out Maine Coon. The biggest issues are that he is more nocturnal than the others and also that they are still in a funny mood (it has been a hard week loosing their leader and getting a new arrival). We have tried to keep them apart especially at night (I slept half the second night with him to keep him company) for 2 nights but the 3rd night our eldest girl decided she was sleeping in the room with us.We still have a tiny bit of hissing from our eldest girl but our youngest (maine coon) has taken a shine to him after he ran up and slapped her (bear in mind he is half her size). Both girls will come and look for him.Our boy has hidden a lot from his new brother (he made a nest in our utility room) but is slowly getting better. This is still far better than we ever possibly could have expected especially without our Queen's calming influence. We caught up with our neighbours today (who'd looked after the cats when we went away the weekend after bank holiday) and our Queen had spent quite a bit of time getting cuddles out of them which makes me feel a lot better.May you find your sister soon Helli.

Currently he's under our bed.Currently all 3 of our other cats are waiting in the hall outside our bedroom as if to wait for him.Sadly don't know too much about him other than his original owners abandoned him on a friend when they moved (the friend couldn't afford nor wanted a cat so handed him to a rescue centre). He apparently has lived with small children and a dog and we think is about 18 months old. So similar age gap between our eldest 2 and youngest 2 cats. Our 2 Burmese have really brought our Maine Coon into their circle this week as well so hopefully in time we will have a closer unit.It was the one thing with our Queen was that she was so much older and had lived 8 years on her own that she liked the other's presence but didn't play s great deal with them.May you find your sister soon Helli.
