My contract is up with Sky and I'm looking at options to switch. Considering BB options currently but have hit a problem with NOW BB. It says when I do the checker on their website they currently can't supply BB to my address. When I was with Virgin Media 17 months NOW told me the same, no can do BB at your address.

Why is this do you think? Since moving to Sky BB 17 months ago and having my line reactivated it's been fine, I believe we've got fibre to the cabinet but I can't believe that's the problem.
Any advice if I can get NOW BB somehow or is it because Sky do not want me to swap to one of their own?

I've experienced the same with Now Broadband.  All the comparison sites say it's available, until you go to the Now Broadband website go through the process and get:

We are sorry, NOW Broadband is unavailable at your address.

While NOW Broadband can’t supply you with a service, Sky, our sibling company, may have some options available in your area. Click here to find out more.

You can click through to Sky and they are happy to offer a service, but at a price somewhat more than Sky.  I can't really understand it, Sky and other BT Line providers are happy to quote for ADSL or FTTC but Now can't.  ADSL and VDSL are showing Available on the BT line checker, and exchange is not part of a stop sell.  Perculiar.

It's probably because Sky are offering an FTTP service, Now BB only offers a FTTC product. Is VDSL actually available or is it on a waiting list?

Can you post the results of the BT wholesale checker?

I was on ADSL with Plusnet and have just joined FTTC/VDSL with Onestream so I think ADSL/VDSL still available.

Yes that's the message I get, get prompted to go to Sky.
Of course inputting my details gets picked up by Sky, oops! something's gone wrong, we can't seem to quote you right now, or words to that effect.

Same with Plusnet for me too, I just get directed to BT, they can't offer anything.

So on to Vodafone BB, so far it's just a price comparison and what's on offer, they haven't refused when inputting my number and postcode.
I'm looking for BB then taking a NOW TV subscription. Ditching my Sky package, going to get too expensive and I'm fed up of the haggling and BS I get when speaking to them.😮

What're peoples overall impressions of NOW Broadband?

    Decent download and upload speeds?

    Is the connection stable?

I'm shopping around and looking at deals at the moment.

Service is stable for me, the speed obviously is going to depend on your location. I'm getting near enough 80/20 at my house, my dad, gets around 45/18.

Fine for me, but not a gamer, OK for streaming Prime & Now but again I'm not on HD, stable enough for me most time, sometimes buffering on You Tube but maybe that's YT?

Have you tried to contact your provider and see if they can match the price?
I did it, and I managed to get the same conditions (£20/month for 12 months) with TalkTalk.

Yes, Virgin Media would no way drop down to £20 🤣

As long as I can stream, watch YT videos without buffering, then I'll be happy.

Beware. I just tried to sign up for Now Broadband. I had been going through the sign-up process online and all was smooth until the installation date came up. They gave a date when I will be away from home and way before my current internet provision ends, with no option to select a date. I managed to find their tel contact no.(not given on their site) and explained I wanted the installation date to be on the date my current provision ends and I was told I could set up the account online and then change the date. Alternatively, I could be be passed to Sales who could manually select the date and set it up for me. I asked to be passed to Sales. After waiting some time, what sounded like the person I'd just spoken to answered and I had to explain the situation again. I was told it was not possible to change the date given to me and that it always works this way with every provider (amongst many other confusing and illogical things which I have never experienced during a switch).I pointed out this conflicted with their advice of minutes earlier, but she insisted I could not change the date. Needless to say. I'm now looking into other providers.

I've seen some mention that the router has less wi-fi coverage than most other major BB providers? I currently have BT which has a hub with 7 antenna and can see the now hub has 5. Currently I get coverage all through the 3 bed semi detached house and even halfway up the street.....do you think it would be significantly poorer with Now?  As long as i can get coverage through the house and I'm not bothered about it being any stronger than that.
