The Yorkshire BS (YBS) hack is a lot quicker than NS&I...GTR_King said:Update Have closed post office account down and now opened NS&I Savings so I can do the £500 debit card payments so all goodWhat hack? As above if the £5,000 option has been chosen for the upcoming year this won't get you the reward.GTR_King said:Update Have closed post office account down and now opened NS&I Savings so I can do the £500 debit card payments so all good0 -
All my existing YBS savings accounts allow payment in by debit card. I haven't opened an Internet Saver Plus Issue 10 so unable to confirm that it too accepts debit card payments in.grumbler said:soulsaver said:

At the bottom of page 3 of the general terms and conditions for all accounts it is stated.
The following electronic payments can only be made into your account (f) Debit card payments; and (g) BACS payments.

I easily "spend" more than the £500 needed. I use Revolut, money is paid into it each week which then goes to a different account and circles back round to Halifax and covers the funding requirements as well.Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.1

NS&I account is open waiting for details In the post then will use that for the £500 debit card transactions

As I said in my post above. The general terms and conditions state that debit card payments in can be made.Over62 said:
I think YBS have given up receiving debit card payments for new accounts. As grumbler said, there is nothing in the current Product Terms to suggest that it is possible.noh said: All my existing YBS savings accounts allow payment in by debit card.0 -
Hi all, not sure of this is the right place but I've a question about my Halifax account. So I made a payment to a company on thr 21st April, but the order was cancelled and to be refunded back. In my account it showed as pending for several days and I kept checking for the money (£150.43). However if I go back to that date now it shows that my balance includes this money, yet there wasn't enough in to cover my direct debits (moved from weekly to monthly pay and missed these DD's) which were all returned despite showing that I'd enough to cover them. Why does it appear that the money was returned but I haven't been able to use it. I'm very confused and guy at the bank didn't understand either!0

If the money was pending then it wasn't available to cover your direct debits, so unless you had an overdraft facility they would have been returned unpaid.
