Unfair parking fine

Hi there. I have received a parking fine this week from over a month ago after parking in a car park whilst staying at a Premier Inn. Whilst not associated with the hotel, it was recommended by them as you can enter the hotel from inside the car park.
Upon arrival I purchased a pay and display ticket valid for 24hrs at 5.30pm on 26/3/22. I had this ticket on display at all times. I popped out to get something in the morning and drove back into the same space whilst we checked out of the hotel.
I have now received a parking fine from Excel Parking for 11.44am on 27/3/22 stating that I had not paid for parking, issued 24 days after the alleged contravention (and a further week to arrive to me!).
I have appealed stating I will not pay the fine as I had already purchased a ticket for the 24hr period and also because they had issued the ticket 24 days after the event and not within the 14 day period which I believe they are supposed to do.
I entered my registration in the machine on arrival so I am assuming they will have a record of this. I just wondered where I stand and what to do if they refuse my appeal? Also, is the pay and display ticket invalid if I leave the car park and come back as I was not aware of this?

This is not a fine, please read the newbies thread before you do anything.
If you have already "appealed" and said the wrong things, this will have an effect on how you proceed, but the aim is that you will be paying them nothing.
To help us hep you, please read the newbies thread, and post on here what you sent in the so called appeal, without giving any personal data away. Simon, or one of his minions may be watching. From the Plain Language Commission:

Seems to be yet another example of why anpr isn't fit for purpose, the driver paid for 24 hours but the session was cancelled when the vehicle left the car park, a new session was begun on second entry and stopped on second exit flagged as unpaid, whereas the sessions over lapped. Can't see how they could win that one unless a no return on the same session clause is in the T&C's2

Isn't it amazing, when it suits them they can see the first exit and second entry but not when it is double dipping!4

What happened when you complained to Premier Inn ??

I stated on the ‘appeal’ that I arrived in the car park at 5.30pm and purchased a pay and display ticket which said it was valid until that time the following day. I had the ticket on display at all times during our stay. I also said that I believe the NTK to be invalid as the issue date was 24 days after the ‘alleged contravention’ and not within the 14 days as required under the Protection of Freedom Act 2012. For these reasons I would not be paying their invoice.Premier Inn did not want to know even though they recommend this car park on their website. If there were restrictions on entering and leaving during your stay, you would have thought they might have flagged this up!!0

I also said that I believe the NTK to be invalid as the issue date was 24 days after the ‘alleged contravention’ and not within the 14 days as required under the Protection of Freedom Act 2012.Nothing invalidates the PCN. The PPC only needs to comply with PoFA if they wish to hold the keeper liable instead of the driver. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. stated on the ‘appeal’ that I arrived in the car park at 5.30pm and purchased a pay and display ticketWhich sadly outed yourself as driver and threw your 100% winning point about the POFA and lack of keeper liability in the bin.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

We need to see what it says on the signage, if you could name the PI it would be a start

It was Feethams Leisure Car Park in Darlington. No idea on signage though.Obviously I’ve said the wrong things then but I genuinely thought I had a valid ticket! I bet there is something in the small print! 🙄0
