according to the floor plan there are stairs to a basement somewhere in that alcove.
Who owns the basement? Is the ghost the only entity that can get in and out with a blooming great cooker blocking the stairway entrance? :o

My Rangemaster had an electric oven.

Maybe you get into the basement through the cupboard next to the cooker.

this will give a better idea of the situation.(according to the floor plan there are stairs to a basement somewhere in that alcove.
and this from the opening on the left of that one.

All you actually need to do is swap the cooker and the unit round, so the unit is on the right, and the cooker on the left, where there's more headroom. It beats me why they did it that way round.

Swapping round like that should cost very little. Hopefully!

The only reason that I can think of for doing it the way they have is that there's some services behind that unit. I'd ask the owners, plus have a look inside that cupboard.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

and why is the ghost apparantly wearing protective clothing (less the facemask)? Too much cooking splashback?

Do you think originally that was the cupboard under the stairs and the smaller cupboard on left is housing the gas meter? Seems strange they never positioned oven other side, so perhaps this was the only choice re location.

Oh my goodness, I found it. What a gorgeous little cottage. Very quirky. I love it but I don't like the price. Could get a 4 bed cottage round here for that price but I know regions will vary.

Shhh! I didn't want to say that I had found it, too, as I didn't want the OP to think that we were stalking.

I wonder whether what the OP's parents really mean is: Gosh, that's expensive for what it is!

it is very expensive isn't it. And, there is nowhere else to move that oven to unless they destroy the pretty units on the opposite wall.
