All you actually need to do is swap the cooker and the unit round, so the unit is on the right, and the cooker on the left, where there's more headroom. It beats me why they did it that way round.
Swapping round like that should cost very little. Hopefully!
The only reason that I can think of for doing it the way they have is that there's some services behind that unit. I'd ask the owners, plus have a look inside that cupboard.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?3 -

Do you think originally that was the cupboard under the stairs and the smaller cupboard on left is housing the gas meter? Seems strange they never positioned oven other side, so perhaps this was the only choice re location.0
