I've been offered the same deal and I'm strongly considering taking it. My question is though, since I'm holding onto some hope the government won't actually let this happen in the end (daft, I know), if I do take it then does the no exit fee mean I can drop back down to variable at any time, no hard feelings, or is there a catch somewhere?wd300956 said:Ive been offered 12month fix with Octopus/Co op energy fixed Loyal 12MDaily standing charge 49.38p /day Unit rate 68.80p /kWh Early exit fee £0 🔥 Gas Daily standing charge 27.22p /day Unit rate 18.70p /kWh Early exit fee £0
As stated elsewhere, look at the Tracker and Agile tariffs, they are lower than this, capped and no exit fees, though they do require that you don’t swap out again during the first 28 days.
Thanks Keith (and others who have pointed this out). I've emailed Octopus to ask about Tracker (mainly whether the current cap of 16p for gas and 55p for electricity continues to apply for new switchers), and will speak to my landlord on Monday about getting a smart meter in because that could be a bit of a showstopper.

so how much are they charging now on a tracker for both fuels?0

The actual prices are currently both well above the caps, so customers are paying 55p electricity and 16p gas.northernstar007 said:so how much are they charging now on a tracker for both fuels?

Contacted them today via Twitter. Had the reply within an hour they have put me on the Tracker July 22 v1. With the capped rates of. 55p for electric and 16p for gas.millie said:
I have emailed them and told them that I want to change to the current version of the Tracker instead of the loyal fixed deal I took. I will update when I get a reply.bristolleedsfan said:
They could launch a more expensive version at any time for new tariff switches, best to contact them by email or twitter message if you decide to change to it.millie said:
Thanks I will have a think about it over the weekend and probably speak to them Tuesday, If I can get through,Keith_F said:
Cap is for 1 yr.millie said:
I would rather go with the Tracker, Is the price cap fixed ?. I have signed up for the loyal Octopus which starts tomorrow, do you go onto Tacker straight away or do you have to wait to be accepted ? Ican not find any information about the cap rate or the current version of itKeith_F said:
For the gas tracker, you can submit normal reading regularly.millie said:
Yes but I do not have smart meterspochase said:If you are already with Octopus did you have a look at their smart tariffs like Octopus and Tracker? That will be much cheaper.
for Agile you need a smart meter, but I think you can ‘book’ the tariff whilst waiting for the smart meter to be fitted.Agile is capped at 55p.
gas tracker at 16p
Will probably need to speak to octopus on phone.

Thanks for all the help, much cheaper than the fixed Tariff I chose on Friday4 -
In the renewal email I received from Sainsbury's Energy, it was pretty definitive:MrCrusher said:On 24rd Aug, I received the email offering the Sainsbury Smooth renew V20 tariff. Wasn't sure about if it started immediately or when my current fix expires on the 7th Oct. Didn't have time to phone the customer services for clarification until Friday 26th, called at 9am and was told that the V20 was no longer available and the Smooth review V21 tariff is going to cost me almost an extra £500 a year. Projected £4228.70 for the V20 compared to the £4699.98 for the V21. I'm currently on the V19 fix costing me about £1390 a year.
Turns out, the V20 WOULD of started on the 7th Oct as my current fix ends, it was stated on the email I had received, albeit not very clearly.
Don't know if the V21 does though. I was that hacked off with the "increased" price increase, I forgot to ask when the V21 would start and it doesn't state it on the email I received from Sainsbury.
The kicker is, I could of signed up for the 2yr fix in Oct21, would of cost me around £1450pa.
This time last year, my previous supplier- Outfox the Market, only £950pa.
NOT HAPPY AT ALL!!
Good to know.
You'll still get your current prices until the end of your fixed term on 27 September 2022, so you can renew now and we'll switch you over when it's time. One less thing to remember.
I'd assume these are typically generic eDMs. I appreciate that you may or may not have skim read it, but conclusive and not sure it could have been any clearer (if you received similar messaging).0 -
I looked at this Tracker tariff but it doesn't seem to say anywhere that the capped rates are guaranteed until July 2023 or anything, so can't they just increase the capped rates whenever they want, whereas with the fixed Tariff the rates are fixed for a year?millie said:Contacted them today via Twitter. Thanks but I can't see anything that says its a 12 month fixed term and we can switch to another tariff whenever we like, with no exit fee, so from that point of view there's no fixed term at all. What makes you say it's a 12 month fixed term?bristolleedsfan said:doveman said:
