We don’t have the booster for Spain

Sorry if this has been asked
We booked a trip to Lanzarote before the recent rules became you also must have a booster if over 270 (?) Days . We both have said from the start we will not be having the booster and myself in particular was poorly with both the first two main doses. We fly in June, do you think Jet 2 will honour this and return our funds ? Jet 2 said they will wait to see what the rules are in June. I would have not booked if I knew you needed the booster. I am prepared to take a PCR at anytime but not a injection..
I feel like I’m in limbo as the only other place Jet 2 go to with a PCR is Greece and I really don’t want to go there.

Jet 2 don't need to honour anything unless your terms and conditions say otherwise and /or you had flexible tickets .Obviously there may be some goodwill gesture, but without anything contractual to say otherwise you are not due anything unless the flight is cancelled.

However, June is a way off yet and things change all the time, so just keep an eye on the Government site

AIUI, if you do not have a compliant NHS COVID Pass, you can still go via the SpTH route.

I also suspect that the "270-day" rule will be lifted at some point as people will simply be expired and unable to travel.  There is no means to obtain a private COVID jab, unlike, say countries that require a yellow-fever vaccine - not routine in the UK but can be obtained on request from travel clinics.

It doesn’t look like tourism is allowed for those with original jabs over 270 days previous unless they have an in date certificate of recovery from Covid. At the moment the booster jabs don’t expire , but as you say a lot will change as the year goes on.

I’m sure this will change in the coming months. The value of having had a booster many months ago is little defence against the omicron variant, so I can’t see much point in countries’ insisting on it.

  • Thank you all for your help.
It just seems unfair to say have a injection or lose your money. I am going to recall Jet 2 later this week for their side again. In truth I have always found their customer service great so who knows.

We travelled to Lanzarote recently with one son who wasn't fully vaccinated.
We managed to get a travel PCR test which came in just in time although we weren't asked for it at any point, we simply had to self-certify to get the QR codes for entry.

I believe that under 18 the rules may be different but for adults they do not accept the PCR . Thank you though for your help.

A yellow fever injection has been a condition of entry to some places for a long time. So it’s not a new idea, though the lack of notice makes it difficult for you.

Some travel insurance policies will consider a claim for losses if the rules changed after you booked the holiday and you are unable to reschedule .

From memory Aviva is one of them . So if the T&Cs of your holiday booking mean that Jet2 won’t reschedule - you could try a claim on your insurance policy (providing the change of entry requirements was announced after you bought the policy )

Their Ts & Cs are pretty clear, so your only option would seem to be to ask nicely on the basis that the rules changed after booking (think it was in January) - I imagine that a change to another destination would be a more realistic outcome than a refund but on the face of it they don't owe you anything:
