I feel bolstered knowing the ICO agree with my complaint, yet I still get anxious about sending an email to the solicitors.
Solicitors, like anyone, in any walk of life, are just as likely to be good, bad or just average. I can attest to this as I have quite a few friends from school who became solicitors. A few became barristers and are also judges. All the others are what I would call "average" in that they know their job and are still licenced/authorised/permitted to litigate. A few are decidedly "bad" and I would not approach any of those to seek legal advice.

They have all put in at least the minimum effort to get their qualifications but it ends there. Don't be afraid that by contacting a solicitor, especially the bottom-dwelling type that is employed by the few specialist firms that are involved with this scam industry, you are somehow dealing with a great mind. Invariably, in these cases, you will be lucky to get an average one and more likely to get a bad one.

You didn't give them any time scale in your e-mail so I would send them a reminder (after all that is what their clients do!) and give them a definite time scale within which time you expect ........ and lay out what you want, failing that you will have to send a letter before/of claim and follow through on your threat to counterclaim (although not many people report success with that).

I did give a timescale with my first email to them, 14 days to cancel the charge.

Hi all, just a quick update.

I’ve heard nothing from either the solicitors or the PPC since my “robust” emails to them.

The ICO wrote to PPC advising them to be in contact with me (as they agreed that they should be doing more) and they still haven’t so I’ve now reported this once again to the ICO but they seem very slow on replying.

ICO have replied to me to inform me that they too have received no reply from the PPC.

It’s not going well for them is it?

Finally, the PPC have now acknowledged the SAR, all it took was multiple requests by myself and then two letters from the ICO.

However, they have requested either driving licence or passport scan, I’m not entirely certain that I trust them, is this normal practice as proof of identity?

You don't have to send them photo ID. Just send a copy of your V5C and the PCN.

The ICO has said that asking for photo' ID is unreasonable as they have nothing to compare it with.

    Never, ever send photo' ID

Report them again to ICO for asking for photo ID  and not just getting on with what they've been told to do by the ICO!
