WiFi calling where no service available
Options
I started with the long story of what I was going to post, but it was so long I've reduced it to a nutshell as I didn't want to take up too much time for anyone reading this, so, can anyone confirm if they’re successfully using Three (or Smarty) SIM only WiFi calling for both voice and texts in a rural area where there is no service, please?

I use a three data reward sim and can confirm wi fi calling works for voice and texts when there is no signal1

Thank you for this alanjones600

Yes, ours work fine (with a Signal Booster supplied by Three).#2 Saving for Christmas 2024 - £1 a day challenge. £325 of £3661

Do they provide signal boosters any more? This was the old way of doing it and I don't believe they use it any more. Assuming you mean the old micro cell booster they did rather than a wifi signal booster for general boosting of the wifi network.
I used the wifi calling option when I used to be with them (changed recently to EE) and it worked fine. You do need to have a compatible phone though. Most these days are though.1 -
Thank you JGB1955, and 400ixl (I checked their list of compatible phones, and mine is listed).0

Bit late but inbound and outbound texts OK via 3 Data Reward sim w/ no mobile service.
My phone is NOT on the (woefully out-of-date) 3 list of wi-fi calling compatable phones.1 -
Sorry - thought I'd replied to this but must have forgotten to press send!!!We have a Three signal booster box which said that my phone had a good signal but often the incoming calls would go straight to voicemail and texts would not arrive.I've changed my phone from Moto G7+, which didn't do WiFi calling, to G31, which does, (but isn't on Three's "woefully out of date" list of compatible phones) and everything works much better now and the booster box is confined to the bin!2

Thank you flaneurs_lobster and J_B.
I'm currently using Sky for WiFi calling (or I should say I should be using it 🙄), but after a month of it being impossible to either connect (keeps dropping out) or not being able to hear what the person who I'm calling is saying, I need to try another service provider to see if they're any better. I was on the phone to Sky for around an hour and a half last week, but they have no solution, and I see from Sky's community page a lot of other people are having the same issues.0 -
Must admit i only went to three for the wifi calling,as they are the only company who allow it on pay as you go,all others disable it for pay as you go.
Plus it always works. Never let me down yet. When i first joined in 2017,i had a phone which was not on there compatiblity list, but was surprised when it worked on it as soon as i put sim in.1 -
I've been with Sky for around 3 years and it worked ok up until this last month or so. I've been hanging on hoping it'll improve, but it doesn't. I've been hesitating because Trustpilot reviews for Three are appalling, but none of the others are much better (EE's a bit pricy for me). I've been looking at Smarty as they piggy back off Three, but they don't have phone support for issues which may be a bit of a problem, I don't know 🤔0
