Have you and your boyfriend ever lived together?
That is a huge step to take in a new place with a new language and customs with someone you may be financially reliant on, at least initially. And your mental health isn't going to make that any easier. I'm not saying it's a bad idea but it's certainly not one to rush into.
I'm with the "token payments while you think your options through in more detail" camp.

I would have about 130k after debt repayment to start again. This is massive for someone like me. I must use this money wisely.
Boyfriend and I can't really do long distance much longer and I don't want to go to Germany but I do love him so it's tough.
I don't want to get out of paying my debts, honestly. I've had 2 DMP's before, it's a consequence of bipolar for me
If I went on sick leave I wouldn't be able to pay the mortgage as I only get SSP as a dental nurse in the private sector
Thank you for all your helpful replies0 -
I think I am going to take the plunge and move to Stoke
100k flat/house
14k debt repayment
25k CGT/moving costs
I just need to get 239,000 for my flat. It was up for sale last year for 233k so should be do-able.
I'm nervous and excited in equal measure0 -
What's in Stoke?
There's no need to sell your flat for your debts.Statement of Affairs (SOA) link: https://www.lemonfool.co.uk/financecalculators/soa.phpFor free, non-judgemental debt advice, try: Stepchange or National Debtline. Beware fee charging companies with similar names.0 -

Hasn't Brexit made the move to Germany option really difficult?

Given you are bi polar I would recommend you take your time before doing something drastic like selling up and moving. Thank you all for your replies.
Germany is definitely out of the choices.
I've never been to Stoke but I could buy a house there. I just want a mortgage free house. My children are leaving, I have no family or friends here so I wouldn't be any lonelier.
I agree, I should take alot of time to decide as I have bipolar disorder and can be impulsive. But you can't sell a flat and buy a house too quickly.
I couldn't cope with a lodger.... I need to live my myself. My only luxury. I just couldn't tolerate someone in my space.2 -
I don't think it's a matter of can be compulsive, I think you are being impulsive. Knowing you can buy a house outright somewhere is not a good reason to move there.Statement of Affairs (SOA) link: https://www.lemonfool.co.uk/financecalculators/soa.phpFor free, non-judgemental debt advice, try: Stepchange or National Debtline.
