Doing something that leads to extra use of a tumble-dryer will almost certainly end up costing you more money rather than saving money.
Anyone else got a chart of how much things cost.

Tumble dryer 1 hour current rate 19p from tomorrow 27p

Washing machine 19p from tomorrow 27p

How do you get a tumble drier to be that cheap?

Mine uses 1.6kWh to "dry" a small wash that has been spun at 1400, which will cost near enough 50p from April.
Mind you, I do have it on maximum-mega-super-extra-arid-Atacama Desert, which just leaves the clothes clammy rather than wringing wet (I've no idea why it needs all those settings, they are all varying degrees of soaking wet, "dry" is dry- how hard can it be?) ;)
I agree it does seem cheap.but readings taken from smart meter at start and then end and the smart meter has the right units for my elec cost etc.

I was surprised but then mine only has two setting full blast and half blast.

Not sure what else to use to measure performed that 2 times and consistently 18-19p added to the smart meter over the
  • As my fix doesn't end till 30 Apr I'm doing nothing 😁

I'll be crying in May 😢
Me too. On my current fix my monthly bill is around £55 so my DD is £60. Worked out that on EDFs SVT, my monthly bill will increase to around £112 a month with that including tax and SC.

A lot of you need to ditch the dryer and go old school and get these:-

  • Well, I went to turn my heating thermostat back up to 19C. Discovered that it didn't fire up the boiler. Huh. I thought, that's just typical due to current snow and the timing of the price increase. Hot water ok. Back to the thermostat which looked fine, took out the battery and reinserted it to find a low battery symbol now flashing. Phew. I've inserted the new battery just in case it failed in the "ON" position which I suppose would be worse than it failing when in the "OFF" position. LOL.

I suppose I will enjoy my heating during this cold snap whilst I can still afford it!

Don't forget to charge up your mobile phones, power banks, laptops, rechargeable batteries, headphones, dect phones, cordless power tools, inflate your tyres, mow your garden, vacuum and steam clean your home, fill up your fridge, run your dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer, binge watch your favorite TV series all before midnight! You might save a pound.

So today we have three loads of washing on and as it's wet outside 3 tumble dryer loads.

Going to batch cook some meals and at 11am the heating goes off until we can't feel our toes tomorrow lol
