Hello @elsiepac please can I join in again this month please? I totally lost track last month but really need to get a grip on our spending again this month!
Please can you put me down for £250
My month will run 1st - 30th April and covers 2 adults, one child and a fur baby. I am including all food, cleaning products, dog food, takeaways (hopefully will not have any!) I am also going to include alcohol. OH helped his parents move today and came home with all their freezer and fridge food as they were going to chuck it as their new freezer doesn't arrive until tomorrow so we should be okay for a while!5 -
Good evening,
Lentil bolognese made and eaten (as per menu plan for 31st 😊). Additional lentils were cooked, and I made a vat of tomato base sauce, all now salted away into the freezer for future meals. LG didn't see the carrots, peppers and celery that snuck into the tomato sauce.......
Menu plan for next week is;
M - Caribbean One Pot with boiled rice
T - Bob Chorba soup & dessert (tbd)
W - Vegetarian Bobotie & Rice
Th - Hummus and Beetroot Buddha Bowl
F - Veggie balls, tomato veggie sauce and pasta
Sa - Black Olive Pizza and wedges
Su - Fish, chips and mushy peas
The soup recipe isn't precisely the one I use - but is very, very similar. I got my version from a library book, years ago..... Monday's dish is from the freezer, but the recipe (there isn't one really), is based on a ready meal that I had once. Butternut squash, black eye beans, coconut and allspice feature. The bobotie is my take on the (meat heavy) South African dish. i use lentils, but I use the spicings that feature in Bobotie. I tend to make this as a savoury/curried 'mince', and rarely (now) bother making it up into the full dish which is similar in style to mousakka, or dishes of that style. My version was based on a recipe for the original version of bobotie, which I found in a book about South African cookery many years ago.

Hello,
Please can I join as a newbie. 1st April to 30th April.£250 for 2 adults, 2 cats and 3 guinea pigs. Food, household and bedding/litter for animals.
I am not sure how accurate it will be but have to start somewhere. We will save all of the receipts for everything and I plan to colour code the sections so I can narrow down what I can look to get cheaper. Sections are food, household and pet.
I'm looking forward to getting some control back.Grocery challenge. May £435.95/£385. June £343.32/£400. July £0/£390

Good morning all
No spends to report, but I have a question: what time do the Lidl veg boxes appear on the shelves? I’d really like to get my hands on one, especially this weekend, but I never see them, so I was wondering if they appear at a certIn time?
Today’s lunch and dinner for me will be a couple of discoveries unearthed from the back of my freezer. There’s a tiny portion of chicken curry and a weirdish soup I made with leftover lamb. I’m also really happy to have rescued some really ancient beef too. I was in two minds whether to just chuck it out, but decided to chuck it in the slow cooker last night with some onion, peppers, celery and tomatoes. It may be a disaster but it smells nice, so hopefully that will be a few weekend meals.Feb GC £135.93/200Aims for 2023. 1. Stick to GC targets!2. Build up savings!3. No buying books until I read what I have!4. Lose weight!7 -
wannalot - it's entirely dependent on your local store and whether there is anything to box up (much like any 'YS'd' stock). The boxes are more likely to be there in the morning, but I'm really not sure any store would have them every day - or even on certain days. I have been lucky enough to have got several boxes over the last 2 years, but in comparison to how many times I have been into that Lidl, I'd say the boxes are as rare as hen's teeth, and it is a bonus to get one - certainly not something that can be relied upon to be in store to buy. It may, of course, be different in other Lidl stores.
I'm sick to the pit of my stomach. It is not yet 8.00am, and the smart meter is showing at over £1 in charges. We do not have the heating on, no washing done, no showers........

Try again
£100.00 for this month
failed miserably in March, combination of Il health and treats! I have spent some time revising my budget and with what I already have is doable.
There is only me to worry about.

Good luck @poppy811. I really hope that you do better than I am doing😅. My budget is disastrous already!
welcome @Tmjthomas. You will find lots of support here. I know I do.
£3.40 spent today on eggs and milk in Tesco. I have all of the food that I need for evening meals for the rest of the month, I have made a lasagne, have sausage and mash and some brisket for when DS and family come so just need one more meal. It is the snacks and fruit for the under 7s that costs so much. I am sure that kids didn’t eat so many snacks when I was bringing mine up. Am going to so some baking this week to try to keep the costs down!Doing one big shop a month is really being tested this month but it was successful last month so we will see.😊*craft stash 2023 = £108.36 spent - 78 items made/mended/finally finished.
*115/150 decluttering challenge. 🏅🏅🏅🥇⭐. Mr Soon2B🏅
*GC 2022 = £3154.96 / £3,600
GC 2023 = £2477. 69/£3200. september £197.96/£2007
