The lighting has made these look a little yellow, which they aren't IRL. So good hot or cold; less spicy once cool, so I think the spices were just right actually. Will be making again. Two potatoes and some rice mixture made about fifteen or so. So well more than they sell in supermarkets.
BTW I haven't uploaded a photo to here since the days of photobucket 🤣

The pakoras look delicious @K9sandFelines! I might have a try at making some myself as I'm planning a curry for lunch tomorrow and I'm always trying to get my son to try something new. I'm quite sure he'll reject them because that's the usual thing that happens but occasionally after lots of tries something gets accepted. Today I tried some courgette and aubergine slices in lemon flavoured oil as part of a mezze type lunch and the courgette was pronounced "not bad". I'm calling it a win!2

@K9sandFelines - the pakoras look really good, clever you. That's one substitution possibility I'm going to be making a note of for the future, thanks for showing us the results.1

@K9sandFelines I've just had a one thread catch up after being away from here since 19th April - I just wanted to chip in to say DH makes a really simple flatbread recipe (ingredients are plain yogurt (greek-style here) and SR flour with a pinch of salt) and cooked in a flat pan - might be a Jamie Oliver version, but crucially we portion them up and save the "raw mix" in the freezer in little twists of plastic (film from other things and a rubber band works) - they are lovely freshly cooked and split open for sandwiches, pitta substitutes or mini naan with curry. Just an alternative to other bread options.
If you have plain flour instead, add 1 level teaspoon of baking powder to 100g flour (and a pinch of salt so none needs adding to the recipe) - for the flatbread recipe it is flour and add the same weight of yogurt. Cheap and easySave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £1286.68/£3000 or 42.89% of my annual spend so far
I also Reverse Meal Plan on that thread and grow much of our own premium price fruit and veg, joining in on the Grow your own thread

Only just realised that I haven't updated my spends. I went to Aldi and spent £3.43 on fruit and veg. I won't have any spends tomorrow. So I should be able to last til Friday before my next shop, and i'll update my spends tomorrow evening.GC Jan £101.91/£150 Feb £70.96/150 Mar £100.43/150 Apr £108.45 app/150 May £149.70/150 Jun £155.15/150 July £76.30/£150 (includes food, toiletries and cleaning from 13th to 12th of each month. Yayyy no spends today. So I came in at £34.85 over budget. Ouch! That's without toiletries and cleaning stuff aswell, but tbh I haven't needed to buy much in the way of that stuff. Normally a handful of stuff per month.
I've upped my budget for next month, which I hope will allow for any small bulk buys. Off to join you all in May now.GC Jan £101.91/£150 Feb £70.96/150 Mar £100.43/150 Apr £108.45 app/150 May £149.70/150 Jun £155.15/150 July £76.30/£150 (includes food, toiletries and cleaning from 13th to 12th of each month.
