Uber Eats cancelling promo code after delivery

Uber eats sent me a promo code for 40% off groceries, so I applied the code, and placed an order at an eligible store, the discount applied at checkout and all was fine
However when they delivered the item, the re-adjusted the total and removed the code
I've emailed Uber support and the Twitter team, both have told me I've broken the terms (but not which one) and that they've raised it with the relevant team, who may or may not get back to me, and that they can't do anything
Can they really do this? Can I do anything? I paid for it using a mixture of some Uber credit and credit card so thinking about a chargeback, but I'm guessing they could use the same reason there
Chargeback is all or nothing. You will have to return the groceries if you go down this route.

What if I've been charged the wrong amount on my Visa card? For all disputes concerning payments with a debit, credit or pre-paid card, you should contact the seller first. It may be a simple mistake that they’re happy to correct for you. If it relates to fraudulent use of your card, you are protected by our Zero Liability Policy.
If you can’t get a refund from the seller, you should make a chargeback claim within 120 days of purchase. Your claim will be easier to resolve if you can provide invoices or receipts, along with card statements to show the error. Bear in mind—if you have already received a refund from the seller, you cannot make a chargeback claim.
I don't know, Do you?
With something like groceries possibly being tricky to return due to their nature I wondered if it was a hard rule of no return, no chargeback.
However, I expect the OP won't be eligible for a chargeback anyway, because of ...Thrugelmir said:fatboyonadiet said:sheramber said:Did you use the promo code AND the Uber credit?
If so, that might be the problem.

I could be wrong, but i'm sure i've seen explained on here before that chargeback won't deal with refunds for the value of a discount.

Op would need to have proof of what was expecting to pay over what was billed.
OP has not said what the actual £££ value of the voucher was?
40% of £20 spend seems to be a massive discount.Life in the slow lane1 -
If it is the one listed on voucher sites it states
Save 40% off Grocery Orders with this Voucher
GET COUPON
TERMS & CONDITIONSTerms & Conditions
£20.00 minimum order value
Applies to new and existing customers
Valid until 18/03/2022
Some exclusions apply.
but I can't find the exclusions...1 -
This is what it shows on my app. It seems insane they are limiting the amount of uses but still letting it be applied though.

So quite a few questions so will try and answer them
It was a Visa
The new bill was sent after the items were delivered
I regularly get 40% off groceries from uber eats, it's a great discount but the prices are inflated, so it works out about 20% off compared to store prices but I usually shop for the right items and take advantage of it that way
2p off is still 2p off!0 -
Reading that I can see that they'd take the easy way out and say you weren't one of the first 10,000 🙄
What's the rest of that link which has been cut off?Jenni x1 -

What's the rest of that link which has been cut off?
@born_again say the chargeback was valid what would happen please?
Would the bank refund the entire payment or just the difference in what should have been charged?
If they refund the whole lot is there anything the card owner needs to do for the bank, I know from legal view point the customer needs to pay the retailer back the correct amount (or return the goods) but I just wondered what the bank actually requires.
If you was overcharged in a restaurant for example you wouldn't be able to return what you'd paid for.
You say the chargeback would fail as Urber would contest that the voucher wasn't valid, if the OP has their order confirmation to provide to the bank showing amount x and Urber have charged y is this taken into consideration? In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces1 -
You put urber rather than uber.
The correct link redirects to: https://www.uber.com/en-GB/newsroom/uk-eater-discount-terms-and-conditions

As I said OP would have to provide proof receipt/invoice of what was expected to be charged over receipt/invoice over what was charged.
I'm guessing we are not talking a lot.
If Uber are saying it's invalid & as @Diamandis has shown, it has limits. Then it's possible that it will only be picked up on order being priced up for delivery (as we all know food delivery pricing can change if items not available) & not at point of use.
End of the day if it's rejected as invalid. Nothing you can do.Life in the slow lane2
