  • Thank you all very much. We are so grateful. Fingers crossed now.
  • Hi
My daughter has received a letter from dcb legal saying they intend to proceed with the claim.  They then say their client may be prepared to settle the claim.  They have included a 'Directions questionnaire' which has been completed on behalf of Highview Parking Limited. I take it this is all scare tactics and we don't need to do anything as we must have some sort of case or they would not be prepared to settle out of court.
If she ignores this what is the next step please?

Standard reply. Totally expected. Are you reading other Highview/DCB Legal threads because you will see this stage in every one of them that are a little ahead of you in the process.

Reading them you will start to see that this offer to settle can often be the precursor to a discontinuation. But to know what might happen next you must read the NEWBIES FAQ Announcement, second post, where @bargepole explains everything in his section headed 'IMPORTANT - KNOW WHAT YOU MUST DO AND BY WHEN!' in red.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

The first 12 steps in the Template Defence thread tells you about this.

This was lifted from that list you were following when you filed a Defence...

    Does it help?

Yes sorry! I read it all but then a month or two goes by and you forget it all.  I think people post out of panic because the forum is a safety net or comforter.
  • Hi all.  A friend of mine used the template to fight a parking fine but didn't get his defence checked.  He completed an N180 form and has now had a letter saying they will accept £135.00.  He is inclined to accept because he is worried about having to take a day off work to go to court.  Could someone check over his defence now and give him some advice please?

Please suggest to your friend that he starts his own thread.
Trying to deal with the parking problems of two different people in the one thread can only lead to confusion - we have seen it happen too often.

    Keith beat me to it

Forum etiquette: Hijacking - always start your own thread to ask a question, don’t post on other peoples. Otherwise you end up with multiple conversations going on.
