Good news from Powergen for those who switched or applied to switch to their EnergyOnline tariff prior to 2nd November. There will be no increase at the moment. So the recently announced increases will only apply to customers applying to switch to this tariff from November 2nd onwards. Martin's email today does not make it clear that any new applications will have to pay the increased tariff after all. Here is the content of their confirmation email to me today.
"I can confirm that any customer who was already on, or had asked to switch to, our EnergyOnline Product prior to 2 November will not see any change in their prices at this time.
Whilst we can’t guarantee to maintain these prices indefinitely, we value your continued loyalty and will keep your prices down for as long as is practical.
Kind regards,
Dawn

Help needed - I have just spent 6 weeks trying to move from Powergen to Scottish Power only to be told that my bills are too high and so I cannot move on a domestic tariff!! I have a big, drafty house and pay £1500 per year for 93600 Kwh. Can anyone tell me how I can get round this strange barrier.
Regards John Fowler0 -
can you tell me how and why you transferred to scottish power. it could not have been online because the websites would tell you that your consumption is too high. if you spoke to a rep, they should have informed you of this at the time, otherwise, you have been misled.
presumably you would have been told that scottish power will be cheaper, but not if they cannot supply you.Beware the green?0 -

Just received letter from British Gas, to fix price of gas until 2007 for a small fee of 3.5% on current gas price, which equates to an average of an extra 29p per week.
But there is a cancellation fee of £30 inclusive of VAT if you leave British gas before fixed period ends.
This can only be a good thing?????0 -
VIRGIN HOME ENERGY HAS CHANGED ITS NAME TO:
EDF ENERGY and they now give you Nectar points each time you pay a bill and when you join up.0 -
I have done the comparison and the 2 best savings for me appear to be Utilita get180 £213.00 or Powergen £187.00.
My question is i have never heard of Utilita and would be grateful for any recommendations.

damn powergen!! ive just switched to them and done it via a comparison site as said in the mse article. all was looking good and by signing up online with direct debit and switching both gas and electric to them i was looking forward to a nice £43 cashback deal as well, however having just spoken to them thay say that im not intitled to this as i signed up to a diffeent tarrif (which i was not aware of ) so i dont get the cashback grrrrr. so to anyone about to switch do read the smallprint before you get caught out too. now i know ill be saving on my bills but it would have been nice to have got the cash back as well, and its left me a little sour with powergen especially as ive just switched to them. anyone else had this problem , i woould be eager to know.ALWAYS A PLEASURE AND NEVER A CHORE0
