What do you think about British Gas Price Protection 2010?
Are there any catches apart from the fact that it would cost you to come out of the scheme?
Is it worth signing up to it?0 -
pash parrot re. Swalec. There is no catch. We are four adults which is why we pay £70 per month, doesn't matter how much electricity or gas we use. It is fixed for 12 months then, obviously, we will renegotiage wherever the best deal is. I do expect to pay a lot more by the time we have to do that. Check things out with Age Concern because they are up on various schemes for over 50s and 60s.0

All this discussion about money saving is very frustrating ..... if you are on a preserved tariff , which may be very expensive, you cannot switch suppliers and just have to grin and bear the price rises......0

Nigel. The mind of the bigot is like the pupil of the eye; the more light you pour upon it, the more it will contract.

Hi
Just thought I`d let you hungry moneysavers out there that there is £12.50 (formerly only £10) for each switch from www.energyhelpline.com. So potentially you could get £37.50 for switching your gas to 1 supplier-- your electric to a different supplier and your phone to a new provider. Obviously it`s not all about cashback-- you should be looking at long term savings. Also the cashback has possibly been increased because it`s not a great time to switch at present- as advised by Martin previously (the suppliers are in a practice of putting up prices one by one-- but there is still a chance to grab a capped/ fixed term deal!).

Sssh.... you're giving the game away. I've just finsihed the new energy article and bullied the comparison services into providing more cashback. Now you can get up to £15 and I'm just doing final checks before I call TIME TO SWITCH!

Thanks for your bullying Martin.
We always knew you could work wonders with those utility companies!! £15 is even better-- maybe I`ll be switching again soon :-) :T0 -
