Oh what a mess I am in :-/ as I have posted on another thread my problems with Staywarm, and their threat to remove me from it. I am trying to find out what company would be the cheapest for me.
Staywarm say I have used in the past 12 months 2542 kilowatt hours of electricity and 28222 kilowatt hours of gas. it also states:
"This information is made up of both actual and estimated meter reads, we then pro-rate them to give your 12 month usage. For your electricity readings we have used meter readings between 12/12/03 and 04/09/04, and for gas usage meter readings between 30/11/03 and 30/08/04."
From looking at the upper limits posted by Martin, ( I have to admit I am befuddled!) I cannot see I am over these? also I cannot see how they know as most of the reading are estimated ::)
I would SO much appreciate some kind soul helping me to select another provider IF Staywarm removes me.
I live in Devon......... not sure if this is relevent? If anyone could help me, and need anymore information, please let me know.
This is really worrying me, as I feel the cold a lot, and the peace of mind knowing how much I had to pay each month with Staywarm was a comfort, and I certainly did NOT abuse their system.
I have my fingers crossed that someone will helpThank you, Gatita

Am with Staywarm in Devon. Actual use/annum. Elect 5800kw, gas 22,350kws. Staywarm estimate, about 6500+elect, 32,000+gas. Am still with them. ::) Sounds peculiar. Mind you, many things are these days. ::) For me Powergen online would be about £2 cheaper per month on my current annual consumption than Staywarm. Have not put in actual Staywarm estimate in case they bar me. But accurate enough to show you that their decision is weird. You seem to be a modest user compared with me. Hope that is of some use.
Just put your actual consumption into uswitch or similar and all should be revealed. The moving finger, having writ, moved on.0 -
Thank you for your reply Chateau, it really does seem very strange how Staywarm reach their decisions ??? the problem I have is that I have not kept a record of my usage :-/ I know this was stupid of me now! and as you will know Staywarm do not send you a comprehensible statement ::) so I am in a fix as far as getting anything like an accurate forecast with another provider. When man sacrifices the Love of POWER for the Power of Love, there will be peace on earth.0

OK watch this space. Remember the Staywarm limits differ from area to area, so the figures I give in the special note won't reflect your Devon usage.
HOWEVER: In writing this article I put pressure on StayWarm to reveal its limits - at first it refused and then relented. It has now told me in light of this they are going to relook at the limit issue and I am waiting to hear the result today.
I have suggested a few solutions. Fingers crossed. I will keep you informed

SWEB online tariff - now showing as cheapest vs Powergen and Manweb SP, but no reference on swebenergy.com - anyone know a www address for this from sweb to confirm comparison site results. Also, if sign up for online tariff via compariosn site, as no ref on SWEB site for customers to sign in how's it work ?0

edf online may be cheaper than others but they are limited to certain areas. compared to powergen and scottish power their online tariffs are relatively new, which may cause some problems.
with regards to staywarm, its best to join before you buy appliances, etc.. as the price is based on consumption/size of house it is best to join when consumption is low and then use more at lower rate. the only problem is that if you exceed limit, your price can go up.Beware the green?0 -
Is there a limit to how often I can switch and donate/collect cashback? I would "save" more in a year by switching every month and collecting a tenner a time, rather than just switching to - and staying with - the best value supplier(s). Or would I find myself blacklisted? I'd be grateful for advice.

just switched to Powergen after using the recommended link "Energyhelpline/Cashback*"
and was expecting £20 cashback to me.
But subsequently reading the full article. it appears that the link I was directed to pays cashback to some undisclosed charity
(the link gets redirected to switchand give.com without warning you)
A bit misleading Martin ??!!0 -
Ricardo - that shouldn't have happened. Have you ever visited Switch & Give before? If so it may have been cached in your memory and redirected that way. Don't worry though - i am sure we can sort your cashback out. If you send me an email to martin@moneysavingexpert.com titled "MARTIN YOU SAID YOU'D SORT THIS" with the details of your switch, i'll get them to fix it
The other reason this may have happened is that their site is crashing with overloaded demand!

Hi Martin. As you have brought the subject of gas and electric price comparison do I take it that all the companies have now put up their prices and that we now have a 'level playing field' I'm still with British Gas who were the first to bring in the increases but I did not want to shop around until I knew when the time was right.
Is the time right now?0
