HSBC account closure

I've just received this in the post, and not sure why they've decided to close my account. Has anyone had this or can help?

Is this a personal current account?
Do you run a business and use this account?
Or have lots of random payments going in from eBay, Paypal etc?

Yes, others have had it, but no one can help, other than to suggest that you open accounts elsewhere.

You might also want to check your CIFAS markers and consider what account behaviour might have prompted the closure.

I've just put a request through for CIFA's check.

I haven't recently used my hsbc, but just sold a recent macbook which I used hsbc to receive the transfer amounting £1500 besides that the account was pretty dormant, I also just recently added eBay into that account too, since they've changed the system, no PayPal though. Yes personal current account

I'd make a SAR to HSBC as well, and consider making a complaint and following through to the FOS - which costs HSBC £750 even if the FOS finds against you, as is almost inevitably the case with bank complaints made by consumers.

Very possibly the buyer of the MacBook may have reported you for fraud… when trading with third parties, better to use a service like PayPal for payment to avoid such incidents

Given the wording of the letter, & a immediate closure Not the normal 60 day closure. HSBC will not reopen acc on a complaint & will happily let it go to FOS as clearly something the OP told them has not stacked up. In a serious way.

Would be easier to simply find out what they have reported to CIFAS
