Valli, work life balance is your answer. It's the one both DH and I gave because it's true.
Morning all. I'm kind of at work but not as the system is down.
As I'm at home I'll do some flying while it gets sorted.
Have a great day everyone.Spend less now, work less later.9 -
Hello all, where have the last two weeks gone?
Been MIA, but busy. We have a sick sheep, just over a week ago I thought she was dying. Lay in the barn, wouldn't even lift her head, wouldn't eat, wouldn't drink, wouldn't move. After many days she is now drinking, shouting to be fed as soon as she hears one of us outside and trying to weight bear. We have names her Lazarus!
Also spent many hours planting seeds, weeding, potting on etc. And looking after the grandchildren.
The shower in our room is now working!!!! A huge frog! The shower tray was already fitted when we moved in eight years ago. The plumbing and wiring were in place. Tiles were in boxes. The shower was in a box. Unfortunately the other shower broke, so we replaced it with the one for our room. We bought a shower cubicle that then sat in our bedroom for two years, in the box. Now it's all in and working!
DW gets done each day, usually three times. WM goes on when full and all line dried. Everyone gets feed the square meals a day. The rest can wait till I have time.
@pigpen, have you looked at unschooling? DD3 was in Scholl till we moved here, she was 13. She had a reading age of around seven, her maths was almost none existant. I home schooled her from then on. We joined a local HS group, loads of people here home school as is so rural, some were unschooling. Basically, forget the three Rs and learn what you want, whatever interests you. These children still learned to read and write and count, but learned so much more useful stuff. It might be worth looking at. HTH Squeak and you.

if if I were asked this I don't really want to give an answer which implies I don't like hard work.
i do want a work life balance which is more balanced so I can enjoy hobbies and spend time with family and friends...so that's where I am atm.

Then she has a seed check.I have a parcel to fling..And I want to get to the midway point in the second Dr Who scarf.I have some washing to get done.. maybe nag Moomin to bring hers down.DW needs to go onAnd the front room is still a bear pit.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)8 -
Morning all xx
I went into work til 11 and I'm now at home using up my last 5 hours of Annual Leave 😊. On my way home I called at the PO to pay the rent and buy my Easter cards.
WM is swishing towels and tea towels. I'm having a coffee.
Bother - I meant to put the Bug's Life lunch bag in WM too. My lunch bag is falling apart so I'm going to fer-ling and use one that DS used at Primary School. Very mse 😇 and a perk of being a recovering hoarder.
Valli - you answered your own question 🙂. Good luck xx
It's a glorious day here.

You've answered your own question Valli, but if you'd rather talk about it initially without mentioning home and hobbies, if it's a permanent position or even just regular hours you could say you'd like to be able to fulfill your obligations to work in a systematic way, rather than an ad hoc way, so you'd be able to plan your life more easily around work.More shuffling of plants, pots, plastic stuff from garden centres, old plants and bags of compost that were lodged behind and under something finally hoicked out so I can use the contents. Such a relief to be able to get at them at last; I should have done so last year but I ran out of time in the spring. The house needs attention but it's sunny, hot and dry. Valli If I was interviewing someone and they said they wanted a better work like balance I wouldnt see that as a negative, I would like their honesty and think they would probably stick around if we could offer them what they needed. But I am a boss who strongly believes that you get more out of your staff if they do have a good work life balance and are generally happy in what they do.
As for schooling, well DS1 hasnt a GCSE to his name and couldnt write an essay on the theory of evolution but is doing just fine. The worst thing about him coming out of the education system was that he did miss out on some social stuff but he was very poorly so that was different. I would always encourage my kids to do well at school if they could, but school is about ticking boxes as far as the system is concerned.
Paid stuff done for the week, I am defrosting my freezers. We have two fridges and two freezers which is handy when you live in the middle of nowhere, but I havent taken everything out of the spare fridge and given it a good scrub in ages. It was embarrassingly grimy. We do only use it for spare milk/veg/fruit and an odd bottle of beer, but still.
I have to go for a lunch thing for work tomorrow which I am not overly enthusiastic about but it's not all day. Out for Mothers Day lunch on Sunday, get me with all the socialising.
Right back to those freezers I can hear chunks of ice dropping!11 -
