Hi. I’ve pored over this forum and can’t seem to find an answer to my query. Myself and my sons completed the form C1 for my husband but it was knocked back for amendment. When we have amended the form, do we leave as signed on the same date as before or is it updated? Unclear because the will now has the date C1 was completed originally written on it with the docquet sentence. Which the helpful lady at the court had me do before she looked over the actual form. Thankful for any help here. Thankyou.

Keep the original date on the amended C1.

Many thanks for your prompt reply! We are busy listing assets and I do note that there is a survivorship clause for the house my husband and myself jointly owned, therefore am I correct in saying we don’t list this at all in the assets? I did get a valuation in case.

sorry also not clear how to list joint bank account amounts on date of death. Should we put total amount of each bank in one column then his half share in the next? Or just the amount of his half share? I’ve been trying to see examples online but failing badly.

If there is a survivorship clause in the title then the house ownership has automatically passed to yourself. The house share is not listed in the inventory but the value of the house share is included in the IHT calculations in box 23 etc.

If the bank account is presumed to be in equal shares, as is common, an entry might look like:

    1

Bank of Scotland, the Mound Edinburgh

Saver account no xxxxx sort code xx-xx-xx

In name of the deceased and spouse

Balance at date of death including interest £50,200

    Whereof one half

    25,100

being paranoid about not getting the correct terms should I put ‘deceased and spouse’ or the actual names?

You can include your name if you wish, name of deceased not needed.

    Hello,

Following my queries on this Forum later last year, I just wanted to come back in and pass on my thanks to @buddy9 for the help in completing my Confirmation request. I delivered in person the completed document to the Edinburgh Sheriff Court on 8Dec25, and received an email back from them on 10Feb26 looking for some additional information. As this was just in relation to the locations of the bank accounts (I had only put name of bank, sort code and account number on the inventory) they were happy to amend this by hand rather than return the document to me. Having provided this to them I then got a phone call 2 days later advising the Confirmation had been accepted and I paid the fee over the phone. Within 2 weeks the Certificate of Confirmation was received in the post.

As I say I couldn’t have done this without all the advise that’s in various threads on here, and hopefully the above info will help anyone dealing with Edinburgh Sheriff Court as to expected timescales for completion. I appreciate every case will be different, but taking the festive break into account I didn’t think this was too long a wait and both the person I spoke to when delivering the documents and the person who called me back were both very helpful.

    Thanks again @buddy9 !
