Ooh, that's fascinating that it's a uniquely British bit of idiom RT - I would have had no idea.
Incidentally, the piece of work I'm doing for my main client introduced the word 'recrudescence' to me today - a recurrence or re-arising (that's definitely not the way the OED put it!). Lovely word though!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Afternoon all,
Thanks SL and EH! I have indeed added myself to the roll of honour EH.
I had a lovely, lovely day out with ex-Brownie-leader friends yesterday - it was so nice to spend the whole day with them and really get through all topics of conversation! 😂 We bought our own cream teas in the afternoon (£4.50 as I had £2.10 left on a gift card) and then I spent £13.50 in the shop, but on a fat ball feeder which we'd been looking for (and was £4 which seemed reasonable), some fat balls and some notelets (which are really good value as stand-in birthday/occasion cards).
So Ginger cat spent 20 minutes (I timed him) in the litter tray this morning, to no avail... so I've spent another £120 at the vets already today. Fortunately the meds they gave him do seem to have done the trick and he has since been, which saves another operation and that cost. However, I don't want to become a regular thing, so hoping vet will call me back later to discuss options going forward.
I made a large list of jobs to do last night before bed, so have been working my way through those this morning around cat duties. Work is now quiet - main client thinks he'll have something ready for when I get back, but nothing before I go (fine with me), so I can at last do some holiday prep. I've also activated my won RHS membership - I don't think we'll be anywhere near a garden on holiday, but it's done now and I can try and squeeze something in in between holidays hopefully. I've ordered more dry cat food (Zooplus via TCB with savings club discount) and some travel sickness pills for Mr MV (also via TCB).
Mum sent us the money she had promised, so I've topped up emergency fund and the other half will go to the 0% cc with the mortgage balance on it. THere's a little bit 'left' as it were (i.e. the emergency fund amount was an odd amount and not quite half), so we'll put that towards something on one of the holidays. Holiday money is something that's on my to-do list for today - I need to work out what is in the holiday fund and try to decide where it's going to be spent.
MS things:
* Clicks, comps and HW done
* Will ask insurance co if we can combine last week's bill and this week's as one follow-up to our previous claim (if not, probably not worth claiming as a £99 excess and both bills were about £120
* TCB claimed
* Didn't need dinner last night!
Gratitudes:
* Lovely day out yesterday
* Ginger cat has obliged
* Dinner out tonight as it's our wedding anniversary!
* My ice cream maker has arrived - bowl in the freezer, although I'd forgotten we're dining out tonight... maybe I won't need to make ice cream until tomorrow!
Have a good day all!

Things are not going my way today… now stood by side of the road waiting for the AA (wishing I hadn’t mentioned it on Cheery’s thread) as was driving along and car lost all power and electrics. Not ideal on the road I’m on - pulled up kerb onto verge where is no-mow-May high… AA going to be an hour - I could walk home in that time! Fortunately there’s shade and I had lunch before I came out. Irony is I was on my way to collect bits from the electric car at the dealership - bits we need for our holiday! 🙄🙄🙄Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days
