That's a pain about the tiles and the wet patch TMV - definitely one for a complaint! Boo to the cat sick as well - they do choose their moments, don't they!

    Morning all,

Thanks EH. Cats will be cats, I guess. This was followed by more peeing outside (literally outside) the litter tray... such is life.

Roofer is popping round today to look at the damage/give his opinion. He's asked us to leave the spare roof tile out for him (as I'm likely to be out and I've already dropped Mr MV at the station) - he'll do what he can to make it watertight in the short term anyway - he's a gem.

Have just finalised my R'ford order - an actual box and a few additions (still need to buy garlic as they are oos). £23.05, which is pretty good value I think. Probably won't need another delivery for a month either. I feel sorry for R'ford as they've noticed the cost of living crisis having an effect on their sales, but between the allotment and Olio, I just don't need as much from them - I'd rather have their organic stuff than Olio, but equally it's better than Olio stuff going to waste and I will take free food where I can get it!

At the weekend, in a fit of trying to empty my inbox, I submitted a scathing review on Trustpilot for our mattress (it was a case of just do it, rather than a well-crafted, thought-through piece) - pleased to say they have come back and want to investigate further - hooray! We'll see what comes of it, but at least they've had the decency to reply.

Still ploughing through with my work and I have a Cambridge meeting later - which I suspect may result in me saying I can't do something in the time now available before my break.... they've not provided the necessary info to the original timescale.

    MS things:
    * Clicks done, HW done - a 'megawin' today on one (in reality about £3), so pleased with that!
    * Didn't fancy the chow mein I had thought of for dinner last night, but resisted the lure of the takeaway and made thai prawn curry instead, using some of the veg from Olio. This felt like a huge achievement after a fairly stressful day. Not sure what tonight's dinner will be - we have quite a lot of potatoes, but not really much (protein-wise) to go with them. Freezer investigations/a trip to Aldi/Sains/Lidl might be necessary. ETA: Or, if I get some eggs, we have the ingredients for a fish pie I think
    * Mr MV qualified for a £20 Lidl voucher with his car insurance - kindly donated to me. It should be added to my Lidl Plus this week (not sure how I tell at the moment, but presumably all will become clear!).
    * Washing is out on the line (washed yesterday because I saw we were exporting - so battery fully charged) - but it's clouded over now! Another load on, also in the expectation the sun would remain. Forecast still says it'll be sunny, so fingers crossed.

    Gratitudes:
    * Lovely roofer
    * Carpet came up clean after cat incident - was a bit worried it might have marked it, but our trusty vax got it out
    * Support from Olio/cat friend after a collector messaged this morning to say she couldn't collect last night (when she arranged the time) because she'd had a drink after work... So now I have 4 batons that could have been distributed elsewhere that will go to waste... and my time wasted. Grrr! Do people have no sense of responsibility/manners/commitment? It might only have been 4 batons to her, but it's my time, kitchen space and food waste! (Sorry that became more of a rant than a gratitude - but I am truly grateful to have my friend so that we can vent about these things! She is having a tough time with the cat sitting cats (the ones we share) at the moment as the one with the digestive issues is getting worse again.)

And on that delightful note (sorry!), have a good day all!

It's the juggling that stands out to me, sorry that you've been let down by an Olio collector though - an emergency is one thing (heart attack, car breakdown, all of that) but having a drink after work.... no!

The Trustpilot thing is interesting - I sent a bad review for very specific faults in the delivery, and the firm got in touch and gave me a refund once I'd sent photos of how bad things were (plus the delivery firm had to delay for a day to repair their packaging).

Anyway, you have a good day yourself :)

It feels like we're a clearing house most of the time Karma - with Olio, Ebay and Freegling bits from the in-laws loft... definitely a lot of juggling! And then the in-laws neighbour has a breadmaker to get rid of - could I sort that? She doesn't want any money, which is good, but it's another thing to deal with!

Yes, I am very tolerant generally (probably if this woman had just said something came up, I'd've let her off as I wouldn't have been any the wiser), but admitting to it being because she'd chosen to have a drink rather than honour her word  and respect my time really peed me off!

  • The non-collecting Olio has been plain rude, rant away. Is there a way you could note their details and not allocate collections to them in the future? as you can probably guess I don't use olio.

With lots of ripe bananas, do you make banana "ice-cream"? (in reality frozen until just frozen then food processed, a squeeze of lime is optional)

  • How vexing MV.  I wondered if this recipe would help? Leek & Tomato Eggy Bread Bake.  I make it whenever I've got old bread to use. If you've got freezer space you could even freeze the batons to use in this later.

Thanks all 😊 I had another no show who had rearranged twice already 🙄 At least she was collecting peppers so I’ll just chop and chuck  in the freezer. Thanks for the recipe Fortune, it sounds good - will have to wait for Thursday for veg box leeks though. SL, they are not so much ripe as a bit battered - they look ok for the most part underneath the skin. I just tend to chop them onto my porridge or for dessert, so avoid the bruised bits. Haven’t tried banana ice cream, but have heard of it. Might have to at some point.

Work has gone mad today, with loads in my inbox. Fortunately at the moment most is for main client, so he knows what I’m contending with. Really enjoyed my trip to the spa this morning - excellent value at £22 for two hours of treatment and relaxation.

Roofer has quoted £370 to fix small roof - quite a few broken tiles due to scaffolders but also some other bits. Have given him the go ahead. Will at least want the money for the replacement tiles back from Eon - but would like redecorating costs too.

£370 is a lot, I hope you get something to compensate from the solar people.
