Talking of fish - if anyone is after whole salmon now is the time to buy it!  Aldi are selling it for £5.99 per Kg at the moment.  I suspect the other SMs may also be selling it cheap if they have a fish counter.  I know my local Tesco and Morrisons usually do cheap salmon for Easter.  Unfortunately now isn't the right time for me as I needed to buy some a few weeks ago.

Oh dash it I love salmon as well, but if I buy some now it will have to go into the freezer and I am running it down :(  I too use UHT milk and bought a dozen cartons last week joedenise. So useful and I like to keep a good store of them in

There's a Brogdale butchers near where my daughter lives and I usually call in when I visit her. Last time I got an enormous piece of gammon for £10. There's still some in the freezer and we've had at least four meals from it.

I must persuade DH that he would like a trip to Whitstable.

I didn’t know that - I thought it was the same throughout the UK.  Bit far for me to pop out for anything I’ve forgotten, lol
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

I did think the larger stores would observe the usual Sunday trading hours (in England and Wales), but it seems all large shops MUST stay closed on Easter Sunday, including the usual supermarkets.

Good job this was brought to my attention because I was planning on doing a Sunday shop

DD has spent last 6 months studying in Scotland. We got stuck a couple of times relating to differences namely alcohol related. Didn't realise you can't buy alcohol after 10pm on any day of the week. Only found out when daughter got invited to a last minute party - she had to go empty handed. The following day she had a spare bottle bought for such events and I was baffled when I ordered 2 meals and 2 cokes in a pub to be asked if all my party were 18+, kids can't sit in pubs either (that can be chain/time dependant in England).

It is also chain and time dependent in Scotland. Pubs need a special Childrens licence for kids but some do have this. I think they need to serve food and cut off is 9pm but not certain of this as I have never brought a child into a pub after 5pm. Pre Covid oldest granddaughter loved fish and chips in the pub
Last time I saw all my 6 grandchildren together in the same place was a pub lunch round the corner from my house, oldest going off to Uni next day and one of the younger ones first day at school next day

It was just before we watched a theatre show that started at 7.30, the pub was nearby  so in between 5pm-9pm. Not entirely sure if the pub was part of a chain
