The farmgate price has increased so it's farmer's end of the supply chain that get extra. It's overdue, milk has been a loss leader for the supply chain for some time now.
I'd agree with that and think milk is a relatively inexpensive commodity so I don't begrudge paying the extra if it's going to the farmers.  It's more the thought of how many other milk based products will also increase in price.  As an example, the 500g of butter I buy has gone up from £2.95 to £3.20 in the last three weeks.  For me, that's 35p extra per week on just two products so far.

I didn't get bread flour on my last SM delivery (out of stock) but did manage to get one locally this morning.  Whilst I don't want to hoard, I do use it regularly for bread, malt loaf, tea loaves etc, so don't particularly want to run out.  I usually have one in use and two spares so am stocked up again.  I may well consider getting a couple more as I believe wheat production has been and will continue be affected by current affairs in Ukraine.  My dried yeast is also running down so that's another item to be on the lookout for.
Be kind to others and to yourself too.

MattMattMattUK mentioned a couple of pages back about getting it from Amazon. May be worth considering, depending on how much you get through, and your views on 'best before' dates.

I got some back in 2017. Best before October 2019, but it's still working as well now as it was 5 years ago. I've still got 3 unopened tins, but I plan to restock from the same source if it's still available in a couple of years.

I only have one pack of sausages left in the freezer at the moment so next time I go near the butchers I'll get enough for the next couple of months which should do us until we go on holiday.  They're not cheap but they are nice and have very little fat in them so means they are more filling that SM ones.

I bought Richmond sausages today, as they're OK, but I try to get some sausages when I get the 6 for £20 deal at our favourite butcher (I hope it's not gone up too much in price as haven't bought for a wee while, but understand it may have increased a bit).

Sorry but Richmond sausages are a definite NO! in this household!  Can cope with Sainsbury Cumberland ones from the SM but that's about it!  Definitely prefer butchers ones which, when I bought them last time, were £3.99 per lb.  I buy by the number of sausages not the weight as the sausages are always different sizes depending on which of the staff have made them!  I prefer them when one of the girls make them rather than the owner.  The girls make them much more even sized and a bit smaller; the owner makes some of them really big and they only just fit in the frying pan!

Ah well, it's a good job we don't live in the same house then eh?:smile: Each to their own. They're not my favourite by far, but they do us for a meal. TBH I prefer a smaller sausage. ;)
