The house in the picture isn't in Scotland! But assuming the one in the picture is the one you're asking about.

    Regarding noise...

The house was built very recently.  A noise impact report was done as part of the planning application. It's available on the local council's planning website.

A quick look at the report suggests...

    • A microphone recorded noise levels over 2 days - so you should be able to see what the noise levels were like throughout the day and night.
    • The potential noise sources were the body shop, a convenience store, and a busy road 25m away. No noise was noted from the body shop - but the busy road was a noise problem.
    • Because of the road - the house required special sound insulation, and acoustic ventilation

So, on the plus side, there shouldn't be too much noise in the house - as long as you don't mind keeping the windows shut. But it might be a bit noisy in the garden.

I guess it depends how you define "near". It's well over a 100 miles from London.

Since when is Nottinghamshire "near London"?!
It's quite a cute detached house. I would be considering my enjoyment of the property rather than the value because of the garage next door. Are you more concerned about money or the noise impact of your daily living?

From a mortgage POV you may struggle. I sent my broker the particulars for the property I wanted to buy and it showed a business next door. My broker queried it with me and asked if it was a garage as that could be a problem. I quickly PDFd the name, photo of it at a different angle and showing my property, the purchase went through ok as it wasn't a concern due to the type of business.

Daytime is quiet, evenings and weekends can get a bit loud, but it's people having fun.

I wouldn't be buying next to a garage.
Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.

I thought its near compare to my present home in south wales which is over 3 hours from London and this one just an hour in the fastest train.
Its not the noise that would bother its the look and the perception that the house is next to a garage. will it imapct on its resale value ?
thank you so much for your kind comments
