Maybe a photo album each for the parents and grandparents? In this digital age everyone seems to hold photos on whatever device they're currently using but I printed off my House Troll's baby photos as I took them and we do enjoy looking at them from time to time (he's 18 now). For the baby, maybe something practical like vests or babygrows but in a size two up from newborn. It's common to receive a lot of stuff for the new baby but mum will still need things when the baby is bigger.

I'm sorry about your doggies but big hugs for being brave enough to let them go when they needed to. There's a dog that needs rehoming near here but I think we're too far for you (North West). Poor dog has really bad separation anxiety and barks non stop if he's left alone.
Thats great ideas Thank you. I would never but newborn sizes anyway as my dd was 9lb 7oz so have always been aware of sizing.
Unfortunately we are in the west ccountry and while we are prepared to travel for a dog thats a bit far bearing in mind there often needs to be several visits to see and get to know a new dog.

In the cases of our dogs in both cases the vets said thry could go on for a couple of weeks but they were both in pain and we didnt think two weeks of a poor quality of life was the right thing to do. Seperation anxiety is difficult to train out of but it can be done with time and patience.

Not been a good couple of days. Monday  we picked up Mr H in his box which I always find very hard. He is now with the others on the bookcase but they will all have  to be moved as we are out of space but we want to keep them together. The little one isnt back from the crematorium yet so that will be another sad trip.

Did the shopping yesterday as the vet is on the way from Tesco so it saved a bit of diesel.

Yesterday I moved  the dogs ashes to their new home leaving enough space for the little one when she comes home.  I had a check up on my eye at the hospital in the city. As I got there early I went for a quick walk around the shops. Goodness what a disappointment. I havent been there for years and it is so run down. I did look at the Christmas market but even that seemed to be tired. Anyway all well with my eye and have been signed off from that department with the warning the other eye could have the same problem and to get in touch if needed.

In the evening went to the ballet with DD. It was lovely the only problem was othe stage at our local theatre is a bit small for a full ballet company so I think the men were having to curtail their jumps somewhat and one of the corps de ballet got hit by a moving arm. They were only in our town for one night and then off to Dunstable which is a fair way from here. It must be a lot of work to do tours with only one night in a town especially for the backstage staff.

Mr L is still staying up most of the night looking for our next dog but as we are being quite fussy it is proving hard and we havent found one yet. We have got both vets keepping an eye open plus friends. We just have to be patient.

I am having avery lazy day today as I feel quite tired and I am off to my BiL tomorrow and then on the way home am meeting a friend I havent seen for a long time so will be home later than usual. It will only be an hour (as long as the trains run properly) but it will be good to see her.

    Have a good day.

Glad your eye is ok, and glad you enjoyed the ballet.

Have a good day tomorrow with BIL and your friend.

Glad you enjoyed the ballet - I haven't been since I was a child but can still conjure up the memories of the music, costumes and elegance of the spectacle.

I forgot to say when I went to the PO on Monday I happened to look 3 doors up (mainly because there is a shoe shop I was planning on visiting as getting new shoes happens so frequently ) and noticed there is a new charity shop. I went in and was talking to the lady behind the counter ( buying a couple of books) and asked how long they had been open. Apparently about 2 months. What you might call  a "doh" moment as I am at the PO most weeks at some point. Still very happy they are there as I have some books & DVDs to take. The best bit is they are not too far from th bus stop and I am in on the row of shops anyway.

Today has been good and bad. The bad bits first. I got to the station and couldnt find my bank card to pay for the train ticket - it turned out it was tucked under the zipof my puse but by that time I had paid from a different account that I knew didnt have enough in it. On the way home arrive at the station to find the next 2 trains were cancelled due to a road vehicle hitting a bridge (presumably a lorry that was too tall) so I only got about 1/2 hour with my friend. We arehoping to try again when I go down next month.

The good bits - seeing my friend who I hadnt seen for a long while due to her ex partner making visits impossible and when I got home and went into online banking to transfer money into the poorly account I fond that the pet insurance had refunded the premium they took earlier in the month and has paid out £100 towards the euthanasia and cremation of Mr H.

I will put in a claim for the train fare tomorrow but as they will only pay forthe part of the journey that was involved it will only be about £4 but better in my bank account. It is nearly always the Southern rail involved in delays very rarely GWR in my experience althoough others may differ.

Thats it for tonight and I am hurting (arthritis) and very tired. Tomorrow is a new day.

Its been  a tough few days missing the dogs so much. Yesterday the little ones ashes came home so now we have the full set. We are searching the rescue sites for a new dog and have applied for a couple. We went to see a lovely staffie cross today but reluctantly left her. She would have been a lot of work as we dont think she has ever lived in a house, was very mistrusting of everyone and was very strong. With my mobility issues I could see her pulling me over very easily. Leaving her was hard but it was the right thing to do.

I have had a couple of tiny sales but there isnt much doing. Not much else to report.

Sounds like the right decision about the staffie - tough though.  I hope you find the right dog soon - you are very loving and experienced owners.

Woken to this morning to the boiler firing up. Mr L had left the heating on all night. :#

i have come to a conclusion that if we have money in the current account I tend to overspend thinking we have this much so its ok but once it goes into a savings account that money is locked away and I will do my best not to use it for anything. Weird but  a fact.

Our dog search goes on. You would think it would be easy with the rescues shouting they are full to overflowng but we are not having any luck at all. They arent even getting back to us despite being experienced dog owners who have dealt with all sorts of problem behaviors. Its no wonder people go to back street breeders to get a dog. By making things so hard all the rescues are doing is creating more of a problem and more dogs are being put to sleep because of it or at least spending a lot more time behind bars than is needed. When we were part of a rescue we rehomed a dog to someone with severe mental health problems but that dog kept him going and although we had to offer occasional support it was a very successful rehoming with man and dog absolutely adoring each other. All other rscues had refused to rehome a dog to him!
