She has  a flare up of the pancreatitis and has been admitted to the vet for a day or two. She is on painkillers and being rehydrated as she had also stopped drinkiing. We have been warned that with all her other problems we are possibly looking at euthanasia in the not too distant future. At 16 this is not too much of a shock but I would rather it doesnt happen too soon as Mr L is struggling with losing  Mr H. The vet thinks the flare up may be due to the stress of losing Mr H and as she is very empathetic the upset we are feeling.

Although the loan is finished, at the moment we are looking at money pourrng away to the vets. The bill for Mr H was over £300 including cremation and bringing him home. The bill for the little one will be approaching £1000 and although she is insured there will be an excess and 20% to pay.

The house is very strange tonight as we are dogless which we havent been for 15 years and really we have only just come to terms with losing Miss W . Hopefully the little one will be home tomorrow. She has eaten a little today which is progress.

Fish and chips for dinner as I really couldnt  be bothered to cook, I have however managed to wash up and do a bit of ebay listing. Nothing happening in the way of sales but I live in hope.

Thats enough moaning for tonight. Tomorrow will be a better day.

Fingers crossed she’ll be ok soon.  What a tough time you’re going through, the price we pay for our pets getting old unfortunately. Hope you get some good news tomorrow 🙏

The ladyholly house is very sad today. We had a phone call from the vet about 9pm this evening to say that her organs were shutting down and she was a very poorly little dog. We went to see her and gave permission for euthanasia to stop her suffering any more.  I cant describe how hard it was as last Thursday she was literally running about the field outside the house. She, like Miss W and  MrH will be coming home albeit in a box.

On a brighter note it looks as though I have been awarded attendance allowance as there was a payment in the bank account although I haven't yet received a letter.

I cant write anything else at the moment and I am still a bit numb but need to phone people to let them know.
  • I am so sorry to hear your awful news.  We lost our beloved dog last year and know how much it hurts.  They leave such a big hole in our lives.  Take care.

Oh I am so very sorry.  Although I didn't know your dogs in real life their personalities shine through when you wrote about them and it was so clear how much they loved you and were loved by you.

Thank you for your condolences. It will be hard to come to terms with but we will get there. I will know Mr L is feeling better when he starts to search the rescue sites for a new dog.
I had a phone call from the vet today to say the payment I made for Mr H on Friday had been declined. Very puzzled as there was money there but it is an account I rarely use, then it turned out it was declined as the card was out of date. I had carefully filed the new one rather than putting it in my purse so I went down and paid it with the new card.

We did a Tesco shop but I have no idea what I bought or what I needed as I hadnt written a list so goodness knows what we are eating this week. As there was money from attendance allowance I moved it from the current account so it doesnt get frittered. It does mean I can get a window cleaner and use taxis to get around a bit more.  Mr L is very good at giving me lifts but it is nice to be out on my own as he hates shopping etc. I might even treat my oven to someone cleaning it as I have great difficulty getting up and down to do it. It will mean I have the money to pay for some help.

I have also set up a standing order into the ISA account from the loan money that we no longer need.

Finance wise things are not looking too bad even if other things are awful. Hopefully we will be able to get the new garage door by just after Christmas then Mr L will be able to open it which he cant at present and I am terrified to as it is so bad I worry it will fall off the runners.
Off to read my book as there is nothing worth watching on TV.
