Headphones for TV

the headphones you already have (or any bluetooth headphone) will connect to it.

For the avoidance of doubt:

1. you buy the item above

2. you connect it to your TV using the TV optical out (and using an optical cable - probably supplied with the device but if not they are cheap)

3. you power it on

4. the device will produce a bluetooth signal that your headphones can connect to

5. use the supplied remote to alter headphone volume as required

6. mute the TV if required using the button on the TV remote

Are you sure this is what the OP requires? It's a Bluetooth receiver, what he requires, as my earlier link stated is a Bluetooth audio transmitter, I'm not sure that thing does that.

Good point. The blurb says:

This DAC converter is designed with Bluetooth receiver function, not Bluetooth transmitter. Therefore, you can connect to phone or laptop via Bluetooth as signal source. But you cannot connect this converter to Bluetooth headphones or Bluetooth speakers.

Do people find bluetooth headphones connect quickly and reliably to these kind of devices?  Connecting to my bluetooth speakers with phone or laptop is really hit-and-miss so would be tedious if headphones were similarly flakey

Get a toslink cable - this or similar - different lengths are available, get length to suit your room - you'll need it to reach your viewing chair

Get a headphone amplifier which accepts toslink input - like this, or similar -

Put this close to your viewing chair so you can reach the volume control. 

Get a pair of wired headphones with either 3.5mm or 1/4 inch jack to suit whatever is on the headphone amplifier

Doesn't have to be the exact one, like I said, this or something similar.  I'm not suggesting a bluetooth solution. Cisco is. 

My solution is fully wired, that's why I asked if you were happy with a wired solution first.
