Lunches and dinner yesterday and today were leftovers from the bbq on Sunday. So I haven't had to cook therefore not an awful lot of washing up either - all very MSE! Lots of food still in fridge and freezer so online shop cancelled for this week. Tomorrow lunch is finishing off the leftovers and tomorrow evening I have some cooked chicken which needs to be eaten too.
The freezer is full of sausages and burgers. Not sure what to do with the burgers as we don't really eat them - will have a think. My dad usually has a bbq for Guy Fawkes Day so I could take them there as I wanted to turn off the second ff before the energy increase.
Lots of bread in the freezer too so we will work our way through it this month.
All this should help keep food spends down as I overspent for the bbq in the first place!Mortgage balance as of 21.7.21 - £75,766. Turn the burgers into meatballs for pasta? - particularly nice in pasta bake if you add a bit of chilli in as rolling into meatballs
I have tried breaking burgers up for bolognaise/ chilli, but that wasn't as successful.
Obviously only if 'plain' burgers - not sure it would work with (eg) caramelised onion ones.... 😁😁I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £201 -

Well done on the BBQ. Sounds like you did amazing.
The meatball idea sounds good.
Sausage casserole - with say chicken as an extra can be nice too.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Burgers out the freezer tonight to make meatballs for tomorrow night.
Other than the bbq food on Sunday, I have not spent any money for a week now. I do need a few bits as I didn't do my weekly online shop on Tuesday but going to see how long I can go before I need to pick up some bits.
Glad to hear what our new PM announced re energy prices but can't help but think it's not enough for some.

Grateful for energy help - but if she's not going to use windfall taxes - as some point it will be payback time.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Meatballs (a.k.a burgers) were really nice! I thought they would still taste of burgers but the didn't. I mashed up the burgers with breadcrumbs, seasoning and an egg and shaped and fried then made a tomato sauce. Out of four burgers I got 13 meatballs. Dh and I had some for dinner tonight and a portion left for another evening. I still have more burgers in the freezer to use up. Going to try to make some other dishes with them...watch this space!
With the sausages I have in the freezer, I will make a pasta dish, a risotto or orzo dish, a casserole and sausage and mash too.
Have bread rolls in the freezer too which we will use up for lunches. I never buy lunch out bet always take lunch to work with me as it's so much cheaper. Dh wfh so he grabs what needs eating to save waste.
There are two of us in our household and the dog. We have a budget of £340 a month. This includes all toiletries, cleaning products, breakfast, lunches and dinner, dog food and miscellaneous. I rarely go over unless we are entertaining but often can work extra into the budget. We eat well and waste nothing...I hate waste!Mortgage balance as of 21.7.21 - £75,766. Had lots of interest in our BTL property which is on the market to sell. The tenants have moved out now and I went over on Sunday to clean. Apparently it had been cleaned...not to my standard! In fact, the carpets were covered in crumbs, the toilets were disgusting, the kitchen sink had food in it and the carpet had lots of marks/stains on it! I cleaned it to an inch of it's life and we have had a few cheeky offers which I have declined. I know it will only be a matter of time until we receive a decent offer so I'm happy to wait it out.Mortgage balance as of 21.7.21 - £75,766.
