Perhaps you could tell me if the airfryer makes the same sort of noise as a pressure cooker does please.
  • I don't have a pressure cooker @badmemory so I can't compare but my airfryer does emit a noise - it's not silent.

I suspect I may need to give it a miss unfortunately because I have heard such good things about them & Ninjas.  My ears/brain have a real problem with the noise a pressure cooker makes.  I'll have to stick with the slow cooker & maybe the microwave.
  • I am out tonight at my sister's for dinner with the girls. We get together every couple of months, taking it in turn to cook. All it costs me is a bottle of what I'm drinking. Tonight it's fizzy water which I already have in the fridge (I'm driving) so a very MSE night out.

We go on holiday in two weeks. I paid for the holiday (on cc with 15 months interest free but will be paid off by the end of January) and dh is paying for the travel insurance, spending money and kennels for the dog which he has the cash set aside in a spare account.

I managed to get a wash in this morning and out on theine and dried by lunchtime. Looks grey outside now and threatening rain.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

    Thank you @LadyWithAPlan, @savingholmes and @Aimingforthegoodlife.

Since dh got the airfryer, I have not used the oven. It's quicker to cook with and doesn't need to be pre-heated. I have cooked, chicken, sausages, part baked bread, jackets, new potatoes. Going to attempt toad in the hole and lasagna next week.
I have been making my GF toad in the hole in the halogen without an issue

  • My problem is @LadyWithAPlan that I can't make it in the oven but hoping I have success in the airfryer! 🤣

  • @badmemory I have the airfryer on now and mine is a similar noise/noise level to my microwave.

@badmemory I have a halogen oven which is not silent but I could make a video to show you the noise level if that would help? I am away this week but back next weekend.

@Mickyh-s oh! Fingers crossed ...make sure the oil is super hot before you add the batter. I always make GF so I leave batter in fridge for an hour before cooking - maybe try that as well?

My problem with a pressure cooker is the loud hiss.  It's a pity though they don't do demos of these things like they used to do.  I'll ask around & see if anyone I know has one.  I just keep reading on here about them & wondered.  But then I also wonder if I am too old a dog to learn new tricks!
  • Hotdogs in the airfryer for lunch today. Sausages and hot dog rolls were frozen as not used for our bbq we had a few weeks ago.

On a mission to empty second fridge freezer by Friday before energy increase so I can switch it off.

Will take meter readings on Friday night too.

I hear some have put their heating on already. The heating kicked in at work a couple of days this week. I don't feel I need it on yet and will hold off as long as I can using the burner if I feel the need.

I had some vouchers and have purchased a heated airer. I believe they are cheap to run but I still won't use it for every load. I have a large airing cupboard which holds lots of items of clothing on hangers. I also have two airers in the spare room which I sometimes bring down to put near the burner when it's on. The heated airer will go in DH's office as when on will take the chill off his office too!
