Bathroom sink ..water flooding on floor !

Options
Hope someone can help with the above . The plastic trap pipes are loose and I cannot use sink .

The initial problem ( which I made worse ) was that the sink plug was sticking and not freeing water if I press plug up and down .

I found puddle under sink , which is almost drying up .

Hopefully it’s an easy fix 🤞but I’m going through 2’s and 3’s this week with unexpected expense . Not too drastic yet!
Please advise
Thanks

  • ..and here’s the plug
  • Hi,
eh, have you tried tightening them?
Did you have pipes apart when attempting your fix, if so take them apart again and make sure seals are ok and seated properly.

    Thanks @[Deleted User]
The situation now is that there is no ‘bite ‘ on the bottom of sink .

Now the pipe is totally disconnected from the bottom of sink .
I’m presently trying to undo and then tighten with no success so far
  • Hi,
sounds as though you have messed up the threads, might need a new bit of pipe.
Have you a photie of pipe when disconnected?
  • This is where I’m at ..

Hard to see exactly what's going on as the crucial photos are out of focus but you need to tighten the collar around the pipe where it joins the bottom of the sink. Tightening that collar will attach the pipe to the sink but if the whole thing has come apart you'll need to reassemble the joint.

Probably a lot easier to say than to do if you've not done it before.

I’m beginning to understand this seemingly straightforward issue .

I’m wondering if I can ( if it’s the easiest thing to do) purchase the long pipe that goes from sink to the first part of the u bend . The  collar at the top of that pipe is the problem. - it is just completely stuck solid, and I don’t know if it’s clockwise or anti-clockwise.

For the moment , I’ve reattached everything which is hanging by a thread .

The pipe cannot be reattached to the sink ..
  • Hi,
here's a wee VIDEO, might help.

I’m on the Amazon now , for next day delivery .

I’m assuming any drain is ok to purchase ?

Everything looks straightforward in the video..

Just by another clicker waste and mcalpine trap. Also. Some clear silicone for bedding the waste.
I would also bin the flexible washer that comes with the waste and buy a solid washer.
And remove the excess silicone before it sets.
