UK Parking Control(DCB LEGAL) Claim form received for ticket from 2018. what to do

Morning All,

Received a claim form for a ticket from the summer of 2018.
1. The defendant is indebted to the claimant for a parking charge...3. the vehicle was parked in breach of terms on C's sign.4. The driver agreed to pay 28 days but did not..

Claimant claims

total of £295.56 includes £160 penalty, court fee, legal rep cost and interest.

Funnily enough I have a photo of me stood by the car after being shocked in receiving the ticket as the machine was out of order.  I went into the local supermarket which was part of the land etc showing the ticket and was informed it would be cancelled.
the supermarket has since closed some 2 years ago.

How do I respond?

Thanks in anticipation!

Complain to the CEO of the supermarket if it is still operating, and the landowner if different. It is never too late to do this. If you have a written statement from the supermarket that the charge was going to be cancelled, use it in your complaints.

Please tell us the issue date on the claim form, assuming it is not a LBC/LoC.

Follow the guide to court written by bargepole that you will find in the second post of the sticky Announcement for NEWBIES. Do not submit the AoS until day 6 from the issue date at the earliest, but don't miss the submission deadline either.

Send an SAR as per the NEWBIES to the PPC to flush out all personal data they hold about you.

    Complain to your MP.

Get pics of the site and signage if possible, and/or use the time slider on Google Streetview (GSV) to see if there are any historical images that might help.

When you have completed the above, create a defence using the template version also available in one of the sticky Announcements. Amend paragraphs 2 and 3 to suit your case, and post just those two paragraphs here.

I have added further comments. Many other regulars do this so it's always worth checking back to see if a post has been edited to ensure you don't miss anything we might think of after we have posted.

Asap , no waiting , should have been done at the LBC stage several weeks ago , like explained in the newbies FAQ sticky thread near the top of the forum in announcements

Email to their DPO listed on their website privacy page , attaching a copy of the claim form as proof of I D under the GDPR law

    SAR sent to UKPC

Do I still email the legal company
    :Your email tells the solicitor:
    (a) I am seeking debt advice but I deny any debt and the case must be put 'on hold' for not less than 30 days under the PAP for debt claims 2017.
    (b) I have sent your client a SAR
    (c) also confirm your correct 'address for service' if you've moved and the PPC has two addresses.

No , definitely not , that is for the LBC stage , read it more carefully ( should have been done several weeks ago )

In post 1 you mentioned £160 penalty

Did they really use the word penalty ? If so , they aren't allowed , it's a parking charge notice , PCN , invoice

    Not a penalty !

If they don't store the PDT data, how are they going to prove you didn't pay or were even in their car park?
